Hi tickly tum , my second baby was 12 pounds 11 and yes it was a c section . I was all set for a home birth until I went into hospital for a check up as I hadn't felt the baby move much for a morning (not that surprising really as he couldn't have had much space in there .

I was HUGE , from about 6 months people would ask me if I was due any day .

My first baby was 10 pounds and from seven months onwards people would ask me if it was due soon.

I also couldn't breathe/move/function very well in the last few months but it was summer which didn't help and I think to a certain extent everyone feels like that regardless of the size of the baby.

I ended up with an emergency c-section but whether that was down to his size or not is still a mystery. The reason they did it was because of a heart condition they picked up during labour and he needed drugs to regulate it which they couldn't administer unless he was delievered. My labour certainly didn't progress as quickly as it should have done - I was having contractions every ten minutes for three days and only got to 4cm!

This time I'm all but decided on an elective just in case it's another whopper!

3 of my 4 have been nearly 10lb, the last was a section only because he was breech. The other was over a pound smaller than the rest and it made no difference at all to the pain, dont assume that big means more difficult. My biggest was my first, so also dont assume that they get bigger as you go along. And remember how incredibly inaccurate growth scans are, I was offered one and refused because unless it said the baby was 13lb they couldnt guarantee it was any bigger than 10lb and I already knew I could do that. Keep an open mind

yeah i think bigger doesnt always mean trouble cause i know of plenty who had five pounders and had sections and other problems its just the midwives dont give you much encouragement for vbac after two sections and after doing alot of research anything can happen theres no border line for pregnancy. i think it depends on your own particular situation and i should be in control over the way i give birth. i have seen a homeopath doc who has given me some herbal chinese med for the delivery when if i do go into labour to help delivery safely. i elected for section on 39 weeks (33 weeks now) just cant carry on physically anymore after. so just hope i go into labour before that date.
