When did you start to show?

I'm just curious how early some of you ladies started to show in any of your pregnancies. I have a little more weight in the stomach area this enancy so it's a little harder to tell if I would actually be showing. I am 8 weeks now and have put on some weight in my stomach but it could be just from bloating. I would of loved to have started from a flat tummy like my first.

With ds I'm sure it took a while to show. When I told people at 12 weeks no-one had guessed. I was quite fit at the time, and had recently lost weight so I'm sure that helped. I'm now 6 weeks pregnant and although I had again lost weight recently and had been going to the gym regularly I'm sure my stomach is growing daily. If people don't guess in a couple of weeks I'd be suprised. I'm sure it's a lack of stomach muscles from the first time! and I was just beginning to get them back. Oh well, good excuse to stop the gym membership and save some money for that double buggy we'll need!

I'm 22 weeks with no. 2 and I don't think anyone has guessed from the bump - obviously people I've told know, but they all say it doesn't really show yet.

No one would've guessed I was expecting until about 28 weeks with my ds. Then with my dd I was showing by 20 weeks. I think you do show alot earlier with your 2nd but have to admit I put on weight all over with ds but dd was one BIG bump.

I think underneathe this pudge (how sad) I am showing a little too. If I press I can feel the firmness of my uteris somewhat. It's low but you can feel it.

With DS1 I didn't show until about 18-20 weeks, well not enough for people to notice anyway. DS2 I was VERY noticably PG at 15 weeks, it was very strange as at 14 weeks I only had a tiny bump and then a week later I looked about 6 months gone. It was over Xmas and New year and all my family were amazed at the difference over 1 week.
Now 13 weeks PG and at 5 weeks 3days (I remember being shocked) my normal clothes were getting uncomfortably tight and I could see a change in the shape of my belly, I'm looking PG now although DH had the cheek to say I could be mistaken as being fat. Told him his love handles were fat....theres now mistake!

Thats what I hated Emma - I wanted to either look no different or definitely pregnant.

I showed after about 10 weeks with DS, But that was maybe because I stopped holding my stomach in anymore.

This is my 3rd baby - I couldn't fasten my jeans from about 7-8 weeks this time and now at 19 weeks I think I look about 7 months gone. Think my muscles have just given up this time

I became quite upset when at 7 weeks my trousers were tight but your body isn't just accomadating to the size of the baby, the first thing that happens is that your waist thickens out so you can carry the baby effectively. Also any fat you have on your belly will become more pronounced an impossible to hold in. I was terrified that my body was out of control but as long as your eating normally it evens out in time. Thankfully I'm 16 weeks now and just starting to show. I'm finding it difficult to get my lod trosers on but my maternity trousers are massive, what do I do?

Bekki- I bought something called "the Belly Belt" It is a bit of elastic with a button on one end and a hole on the other that will bridge the gap and you thread on a piece of material (3 colours supplied) that tucks into your jeans to cover belly/knickers. It comes with 3 different lenghts of elastic as you grow and was great for that bit when maternity trousers look rediculous! bought it through "grobag" which i found advertised in the back of a preg. magazine.

With regard to "showing" I couldn't do up my jeans at 5 wks, looked fat until about 18wks now at 23 wks I look about 8mths! although it is no.3 and as said before stomach muscles are a distant memory!

Katherine & KMS are you 1 & the same?

I saw doc this am. He said baby is only 1 to 2 mms. The queston ran through my mind why am I so fat then?? I didn't dare ask because I probably wouldn't like the answer.

Bekki - have you considered getting the low-cut jeans eg long & lean from gap - I reckon they'll go right under the bump & I'm hoping they'll last the whole pregnancy & even give bump-support in the later stages, as well as being able to wear them afetr. Just make sure you've got a long maternity top so everyone doesn't see the dreaded post-natal jelly belly.

Hi Monkey - no I'm not KMS but it sounds as if we look pretty similar at the moment I looked at those things to attach to your normal jeans etc but all my tops are quite short so they would be on show! I'm STILL struggling with what to wear. I am in maternity clothes now but find they are still big on me and the trousers seem to slip down (a problem with the Tesco design methinks). I am most comfortable in tracksuit bottoms still and the ones I got from Next still look OK but I feel a bit frumpy in them. Now the weather is getting warmer though I can wear my stretchy summer dresses with a cardi. Got them for my first pg and they've seen me through both so far. Quite flattering yet still show of the bump and never look too big or too small.
