big weight-loss while pregnant? Is it a bad thing??

Pre-pregnancy I was a large size 14, sometimes a 16 in jeans for comfort. I was healthy though, ate a healthy diet, did at least an hours walking a day aswell as lots of cleaning which works up a sweat, and chasing 2 under 4's about keeping me healthy. Most of the size issue was extra flab around my tum from past pregnancies, and massive breasts on top. My weight was about 13stone (which i know is overweight) and i'm 5ft 4.

I'm now 5mths pg with Dc3.... and i'm having to buy size 12 maternity clothing as size 14's which i bought early on are falling down even on the tightest waist settings.

I have suffered with hyperemesis all pragnancy, still being sick every day, but much more under control now. I'm also weighing about 12 stone... so have lost over a stone off my pre-pregnancy weight, not to mention the weight of my bump.

I have only seen my actual midwife once (a different one did my booking in app) at 16wks, i will be seeing her again in a few weeks... do you think my weight-loss is a cause for concern at all... i mean a stone in about 3mths is a fair amount to loose. But at my 20wk scan baby looked healthy enough... I look healthy and feel healthy besides the sickness, But DH just worries that such a big weight-loss while PG is a bad thing...

anyone have any clue??

thats what i thought... But becasue everyone says 'dieting' isn't good while pregnant, DH seems to think that me loosing such a big amount of weight can't be a good thing!!

Though i'm hoping it will make it easier to slim down after the birth anyway!! I had planned to diet until i was a size 12 again... and all being well it'll only take some good exercise!!

how many times are you sick? does the mw know about your hyperemesis?

I lost weight with my 2nd pregnancy (up until about 6 mths) through being sick and ds was fine (and big!)

Don't feel too worried, a friend of mine wasan 18 before being pg and never put in any weight in the whole pg, just because she happened to eat healthier. With your sicknes then that would explain a loss.

if you are worried ask them to check your thyroid, my went mad during pregnancy, i went from a size 14 pre preg to a size 10, non maternity at about 5 months pregnant. people didnt believe i wasnt starving myself.
dd was totally fine btw.

I lost a stone and a half in first trimester due to hyperemisis and was hospitalised for 6 weeks. Docs were concerned about dehydration and UTI as a side effect of hyperemisis, but not weight loss. DS was 3.7kg, only 9 days early and growing nicely.

I lost a stone in a month through hypermesis and was also hospitalised for a short while. I put on a total of a stone & a half in the whole pregnancy (very different to my first pregnancy, when I put on 4 stone!). DD was born at 38 weeks weighing 7 lbs 2 oz and perfectly fine.

I'm normally sick between 1 & 4 times a day now depending on if i manage to keep breakfast down etc.... I was hospitalised at 13 and 16 weeks through servere dehydration, and MW was told about my hyperemesis at my 16wk check. She didn't seem bothered by it at all!! Actually she said to her trainee MW student (when she asked what hyperemesis was) 'oh its very common, some women need hospital and medication to get over it some just cope with it' i dont like that MW!!

I had hyperemesis with DS (DC1) and i did loose weight, just not as much as this time!! I think I'm ok, DH is worried!!
