After establishing (touch wood) that everything's ok, would it be highly inappropriate to ask if they can tell the sex of the baby?

Ha ha, we had this dilemma. I had a scan at 36w pg to establish that dd was definitely breech. We already knew she was a girl, but I was paranoid that they were wrong. Once they had confirmed that she was indeed breech, I asked them to make sure it was a girl. They said, 'No, we're not looking at that today'.

I was mortified.

Eek Pinkjenny!
Cant blame anyone for trying though, I think we all would! how embarrassing...

Mamakin - hope they can give you an idea. If you look you might guess yourself - I knew my second boy before she even said anything

looked like a little round snail with its head sticking out!!!

i had a scan at 16 weeks after a fall and after the massive relief etc we did ask the sex - didn't get a conclusive answer but she did have a look for me and didn't seem to mind!

Hope all is well

Oh god they'll probably say that to me too, and give me that look like you wicked mother you should only care about your baby's well being! (By the way after the initial quietness the baby's moving loads now, which is why i'm not overly concerned) might get dh to ask at the end so i don't look as bad!

Just google a few pictures and get into practise, you have a few hours

That is what I did...

apparently the girl bits look like three white lines or similar, parallel lines...boy bits as I said before, sort of bump with a thing sticking out. Lol

Well we can only ask, in a really sweet, ooh you can't by any chance see if it's a girl or boy can you? Right at the end. Hopefully it'll be a nice sonographer! Bet they'll make me feel awful though!
