Movements at 28 weeks...

HI there

Just looking for some advice/reassurance really.

I am 28+4 today and am slightly concerned by the lack of movement of my little one.

I didn't feel him at all until I was 21+2, and since then I have felt him regularly but the movements are normally quite gentle and I don't seem to be being pestered all the time like most of my friends!

Do you think I should be concerned? I am pretty sure I feel 10 movements over the course of teh day but one article I just read said, it if sit somewhere quitely I should be able to feel 10 in an hour?

I have been trying to note movements this morning and would say I have had about 3/4 very faint ones but that is it.

I haven't been too concerned up until now because he has always been like this so it isn't a change in his pattern, but should I be worried or may it just be the way he is lying?

how was the baby laying at your scan or your last mw appointment? I am definarely getting less movement with this baby than my other two but suspect it is breech at the moment and possibly faving away.

He was breech at my 5 month scan - they've never mentioned either way on my subsequent midwife appointments.

Sorry probably a silly question, but if he is breech would that explain why I don;t feel as much?

Thanks for your help

With my DD I hardly felt any kicks and I kept mentioning it to MW/GP and they weren't concerned - they didn't seem to register my concerns at all. When I had to be induced the consultants were very worried about lack of movement which probably contributed to my rapid failed induction. But DD very big and so probably didn't have much room to kick. Was a very laid back baby though and very quiet until she was one.

Some babies don't move that much, pregnant with no.2 and he does kick me much more. Both are/were in weird positions with head down but transverse body.

If you are worried ring labour ward and get monitored at the hospital is my advice. I vowed to lie if it happens this time and say I've had no movement for 24 hours if need be - they won't take you seriously otherwise. Fizzy cold drinks never made my DD move at all.

i've just come back from my scan - my baby is breech too and was moving like a mad thing on the scan but I'm still feeling very little - even when looking at the baby moving on the screen! It probably is just position but if you are worried you can go into the labour ward and get them to put a trace on for you.

You should feel 10 in a 12 hour period.

If babies movement pattern chnages (less or more) you need to be checked out.

Thank you all for responding

Ironically bubs has been a little more active today - think he;s trying to make mummy feel better!

Tapster - I think you are right and I will say that if I am worried, otherwose I think they will just think I'm fussing over nothing

Babybaby123 - mine was just like that - I could literally see him kicking me at my 5 month scan yet couldn't feel a thing at that stage. Even a couple of weeks ago, the consultant was listening to him and said he sounded very active and yet I couldn't feel a thing!

thenewme - thanks for that. TO be honest I have never felt him move that much hence the fact I haven't really worried so far as they seem to be more concerned with a change in pattern

By co-incidence I am going for a 4d scan on Saturday so hopefully that will put my mind at ease, but I will keep an eye on thingsi= in the meantime

Thanks again
