how many people delivered before 39 weeks?

I've just been booked in for a Caesarean at 39 weeks, as this is the best time for the baby (apparently 39 weeks is the new recommendation). I'm at risk of pre-term labour anyway, so have been told I might go lots sooner, or the date might be brought forward, but I'm interested in how many people had their first before 39 weeks.

Also, I'm booked in for the op on Good Friday - does this seem usual? I know hospitals don't stop delivering babies out of office hours, but an elective op seems strange on a Bank Holiday.

DS1 39 weeks by emcs (5 days after waters broke).

DS2 was booked in for cs at 39 weeks but went into labour at 37 weeks so was delivered then by cs.

Now pregnant with number 3 and presume i'll be booked in again for 39 weeks but won't be surprised if this one comes early too.

35+6 - emergency c-section after PROM dd was 3.5kg
38+3 - elective c-section ds was 3.3kg

No problems with either - both breastfed well, but were jaundiced due to ABO incompatibility (would've happened whenever they were born).

Forgot to say both weighed 7.5lbs and breastfed well.

DS2 was poorly at birth with breathing difficulties and spent a week in special care.

Good to know your early babies are all doing well!
I was measures yesterday and was told I'm not small, and am having regular scans which also tell me that baby isn't small - just hoping he will hang on in there until 39 weeks so no emergency CS.

Do you think most people go over 39 weeks?

Thanks

DS (only DC) 38+5, 13 weeks ago. Water breaking to 8cm dilation was 6 hours. Ended in em CS as he was undiagnosed (until then) footling breech.

3.46kg (7 lb 10oz). Some probs feeding in first week, lost a lot of weight, but paed thinks this is more down to birth trauma than gestation time.

I've never gone beyond 39 weeks - I was 10 days early with ds1, and a week early with ds2 and ds3. I came to the conclusion that 39 weeks was my natural 'term'. And all three boys were healthy at birth and have flourished since. They are untidy (and in one case, soap-dodging) now - but I doubt I can blame that on their gestational age at birth.
