I did a test yesterday and got no lines to begin with. I then checked it a couple of hours later and it was positive! Any ideas? I feel pregnant but did a clearblue today which took forever and then came up negative. Please help!!!!

they say in the pack they don't count after the expired time limit. Maybe the chemicals leached from the 'control' line. I'd wait a couple of days then do another one.

Any result read after 10 minutes should be disguarded.
I'd do another one, and wait for the stated time, some are 1 minute, some are 3, and take that result. Nothing after 10 minutes is accurate I'm afraid.
Goodluck

Feel really down now. Thought it might be to good to be true as mirena only came out a month ago. Which test do you find the best?

Sorry you haven't heard what you wanted to.
I've always used the cheaper brands and never had an inaccurate result.
I hope you get an accurate positive soon.
How about poping to the doctors on monday and letting them test it?

Would the mirena affect the result? I only had a bleed for three days then nothingwhen it came out. Ttc but not sure what is going to be honest. Feel sicky but have low pain.

It happened to me before mind you with ds2. Had result hours after test. Was just very early. Perhaps this is wishful thinking again......

Read the pack carefully. I took mine (first response), and it had the faintest line after an hour or so. I read the instructions and said that any positive that appears after 48 hours should be disregarded.

So of course I ran out and got another test in a different brand and I am currently 26 weeks pregnant with a little girl.

Don't want to get your hopes up, but read the instructions carefully.

Good luck to you.

Oh thank you. Think I just needed something positive. Will leave a few day then retest. Hope all goes well with little girl.

Have found the leaflet and it says that a positive result will last at least forty eight hours and it is still there!

Well go out get yourself another test of a different brand and verify, but wait a few days because it may just be very early. (Yeah right we all know you'll run out the door asap

A tentative congratulations!

Oh love don't get your hopes up too much - a positive result should have been seen within the first couple of minutes. If it was a positive result it would last at least 48 hours...but yours was actually a negative result so it's not the same thing.

Doesn't mean you aren't pregnant but you definitely need another test. Fingers crossed

the same thing happened to me, and I too disregarded the line as I saw it after returning to the test hours later, but I was indeed pregnant despite a negative the same night.
I'd wait a while - I did another one 5 days later on the day my period was due, if you can bear to wait a few days you'll know either way.

I've had this before when I pulled a test out of the bin and I definitely was not pregnant. A positive that appears after ten minutes is not a real positive - even if you do turn out to be pg, it's just a coincidence. If there was enough hcg to turn the test positive it would do so within the test period.

I have since vowed never to do it again as therein lies madness....

Hoping it was just too early and that you get a positive result.

hmm, not sure I agree with you Iloveautumn - the lines can react with small amounts of HCG whilst they are still wet and the urine is moving through the test. The only time to worry is if you leave it until it dries out and you get an evaporation line - these will usually be yellow, and that's why the tests are blue or pink colours so it doesn't look the same!

A faint test can of course be a chemical pregnancy (where you have a fertilised egg but it doesn't implant either properly or at all, so you would get your period as normal). Although that can be really upsetting, it shows you and your partner are at least capable of creating a baby.

socialpariah - just wait a day or two and test again using first morning urine (don't drink too many fluids the night before either) and hopefully you'll get a stronger positive! If not take heart that the plumbing is working and you have a good chance of a BPF next month.

Good luck... let us know how you go on!

Paraih,

I had this the week before last myself, took 4 tests to get a proper positive ( I ended up biting the bullet and bought the digital one with words)

Like you the 1st test on a Tuesday morning did not show postive till after the supposed time your not supposed to read it, and then the Predictor the next day came up negative, then we had another 2 days later which I could not see anything on but my SIL could see faint lines on, in the end we got the digital one on the Sunday,

But I definately Am! try not to get your hopes up and wait another day or so, but also I would thoroughly recommend getting a digital one or at least one which can test from 4 days before your due.

Good luck!! :-)

Try sainsbury's or asda's own brand. They are apparently one of the most sensitive tests out there.

Well trapsed to doctors with test and he refered me straight away to epu. He said other test could have been negative if it is early and I didn't use the first wee of the day Definately not an evaporation line even midwife had a look. Trying not to get hopes up though......

He refered but still haven't heard. Read on another thread that first response tests are the most sensitive. Just not sure why the delay. Still no af though and coil out first week of November.
