I am having pains ... anyone around?

Hello,

I have namechanged because I do not want to appear to be a crazed 'am I in labour? person' when I probably wont be.

Baby is not due for a few weeks but been having period pains for about an hour.

I have had alot of practice braxton hicks, but these are over the top of my bump with small discomfort.

This pain is the area where you have period pain and is a dull ache, like period pains. the last 3/4 have been accompanied by tigtening at the top of my bump too.

I have just been to the loo and had , how do I say this polietly? ...diorreah

I have heard this can be a sign?

I do not want to tell my husband or mother as they will get excited and its probably nothing!

Oh how exciting! It could just be a false alarm though but you never know! Wait and see if your pains start to get more severe, then you will know if it is true labour and not Braxton Hicks.

Good luck!

Yes it could be labour, but your best bet is to do anything you can not to think about it, because you don't want to get all excited and unable to sleep etc. If it is labour you will know soon enough...

Best of luck whenever it happens

Totally agree with pgwithnumber3, if they get more painful and more regular then give your MW a ring.

Good luck!!

oh bless you, if i were you i would tell your partner or mum. because sometimes telling someone makes you relax and the pains might stop. It could be a tummy bug hence the pains and diarrhoea. if the pains continue, get worse, closer together etc, then the chances are it is labour...good luck.

This could be it!

However I did have the same and it turned out to be a water infection

But keep us posted

I had a lot of diarrhoea in the few weeks leading up to the birth of DD2 (she was induced 1 week late though). I think it is the body starting to prepare itself.

more sugar, does sound like it could be the start of things to come! why not tell your husband whilst making it clear that it could still be a couple of days before baby makes an appearance

fyi, i felt like you did about 30 hours before DS was born. I had "niggles" from about 4 days before but the pain didn't start until about 4 hours before he was born.

make sure you keep us updated if things change

Sounds promising, the "shoe box" shape across your bump is meant to be the difference between BH and the real thing. I got period type pains and a bad stomach too. Hope all goes well!

Im having another tightening, nothing to really make me wince but stronger than any BH ever before and still accompanied with 'period pain'.

Will just wait and see

sounds like this could be it, my ds1 was 4 weeks early and ds2 was 3 weeks early, both perfectly cooked so just cause your early doesnt mean this couldnt be it. btw i had the runs right b4 i had both of them. good luck, xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

I had something very similar - it was DS engaging. He was 3 weeks late. Rest!

Go and have a bath. The pain will stop if it's BH

Is there someone with you or at least in reach? If you are alone in the house and likely to be for some time, then call the labour ward/MW and tell them what's going on and they will tell you whether you should come in/call someone to be with you.

If there is someone there then get some rest - oh, and make sure your bag is packed (a friend of mine was convinced she was going to deliver her LO late because everyone in her family had been at least a week late, at 37 weeks she had a few pains, thought they were BH, stood up and her waters went, and she had nothing packed! She kind of waddled around stuffing nappies and vests into a bag, and had her DD 6 hours later. I was PG at the same time and for about the next 3 months she kept saying, have your bag packed by week 35!)

Good luck. Eat something, rest, think happy thoughts.

It wasn't labour

Still having the odd pain but nothing significant.

Sorry to get your hopes up!

Oh dear, what a disappointment. It is so common with first babies to have at least one false alarm though. Dont worry, can't be long now
