Pregnancy

possible bfp shock

I have felt odd the last few days - not right, all the pregnancy symptoms...just a bit of a feeling that something is going on.

I did an internet cheapy test and a faint line came up - very very very faint but a thick right colour faint line but very very very faint and not til around 5 minutes ish. I did another one and the same happened. I got a first response and there is possibly the faintest of lines but i could be imagining.

Great...in theory. The "difficult" bit is that...

DD is only 12 weeks old. DS is 2.5
We were not trying or even not being careful
DH doesnt want more children
I know sensibly we shouldnt have any more children
We can barely afford the ones we have
Oh and I have pnd and am on medication for it

I know I just have to wait, take another test. Possiby wait another few days and take another test. Not sure how I could be pregnant to be honest - am fully breastfeeding and we have been using condoms (properly) but I have those familiar feelings and had a period when DD was 6 weeks and nothing since (but put down to breastfeeding).

Just getting it out loud really. Sensibly I know I should hope its just an evap line but small part of me thinking lovely (but with a big ohhh f**k how on earth will we cope with that one then). I am a big believer in things happening for a reason but ARGHHH!

You are right, wait and test again in a few days.

However, I just wanted to say how impressed and I am that you are at it so soon after the birth! Respect!

Oh my!

Well, only thing I can suggest is what you're already doing - wait a couple of days and then test again.

Good luck

Have to admit, am rather taken (in a wow, how unusual kind of way) by the idea of two in the same school year. That can't happen that often.

Ha ha, thanks cece - never as bad as it seems and depends on stitches really. No stitches so felt back to normal within a week even with 8 lb 12 baby...but no wasnt having sex then - not that mad

wow i am LOVING the same school year bit - how special....how do you think you would be mentally if you are?

I have a friend who married someone with the same age daughter at the same school so ended up with 2 girls in the same year. Would be lovely but difficult at the same time!

So wish pregnancy testing was quicker than this. Have been having those AF type cramps all day but nothing - very similar to how I felt with both children.

Know I should hope this is all in my mind

Notanotter - strangely ok with it? Kind of like it was really meant to be. I have had bad pnd twice but its a biological reaction - I feel immeasurably sad but no reason for it - am always overthemoon with my babies.

I know the sensible thing would be to wish for that evap...the mad part of me thinks it would be lovely. Have a fitting for the coil on tuesday - dh wanted a vasectomy

Oh and I have rough pregnancies, no family support, am studying and the main wage earner - perfect timing eh?

peppa i came over all shiver and said 'its beautiful' when dp said 'irish twins' when i read your thread to him !!!

Report
peppapighastakenovermylife · 04/12/2008 21:54

I feel the same - perhaps my meds are working a little too well .

Think I will try and forget about it for tonight (yeah right lol!) and place it in the hands of fate (and start thinking or irish names )

I know how you feel I had to do a pregnancy test this morning, BFN thankfully

I have 3 DDs, 4 nearly 3 and 20 weeks, exclusively BFing, had one day of light bleeding early October nothing since then, have been feeling odd of late and feeling very sick especially when brushing my teeth which I always have when pregnant.

I'm not pregnant just going mad.

DP actually said to me that a little part of him would have been disappointed

The sane part of me hopes I am like you sweetkitty and just going mad. The mad part of me agrees with your DP

I have a great friend who had v similar situation. She has just over 2 yrs between DC1 and DC2, but had an 'accident' when DC2 was about 7 weeks and so the gap between her DC2 and DC3 is under 11 months!!!! Luckily they will be in different school years though. How amazing if you did end up with 2 in the same school year!! Anyway, despite the shock, my friend has been fine. Exhausted, but fine. In some ways she almost found the age gap easier than between her DC1 and DC2 as no jealousy issues / tantrums etc. I look forward to hearing your outcome!

OMG, but it sounds as if, whatever the outcome, you will deal with it... just wanted to reassure you, if you are b'fding with your medication I wouldn't worry about getting pg. on it. If you want to say which one it is, and I'll tell you if I know for sure (sad that I know about so many of them!)..

Have you done another test peppa?

Otter - you really think we would know better now wouldn't you

peppapighastakenovermylife · 05/12/2008 18:15

Thanks Jackaroo - am hoping. Its fluvoxamine - have googled and appears safe/

SK - CB digital said not pregnant. Did 3 (!) cheap early tests from ebay and they all had a very faint line. Wondering if its

a) too early for CB to pick up
b) dodgy batch of tests/looking too closely and im going mad.

Have had bad period style cramps today but no sign of AF at all. Hmmmm...

peppa what I have done in the past is do two cheap ebay tests together dip one in wee and one in plain water at the exact same time, then compare.

I would trust a CBD over a cheap ebay test

peppapighastakenovermylife · 05/12/2008 19:48

oooh am off to dip a test in water...maybe I could get dh to pee on one too and compare

shakes head and mutters at self emoticon

Isn't a CBD only measuring 50miu but the cheeps measure 25 or less? So it might not pick it up yet.

Good idea SK, if her Dh is pregnant too, then you know it's the tests.

That, or you just got yourself a News of the World paycheque

I second storky - CB has actually a relatively high threshold. in my case the cheapies gave the most reliable result and came back positive the earliest. Good luck - either way!

I've had v v v v faint lines on ebay cheapies about 4 days before AF due, had a bfp on a CBD day before AF due but didn't get a strong BFP until a week after AF was due (yes I kept peeing on them I had a bog supply )

I like CBDs as they give you a pregnant or not pregnant unlike the cheapies which you soend hours peering at.

Report
storkycake · 05/12/2008 20:51

Yes SK I got a 'pregnant' on a CBD, with this pg, but not until I was a day late.

FR and the cheeps gave me positives before then, albeit faint. (except the FR which was clearly +ve)

If the test ink is pink then I reckon the test is more likely to be accurate. You don't tend to get evap lines with a test where the ink is pink.

The 'blue' tests are the ones which give evap lines ime.

MrsPig, have you got a pg husband or not?

pmsl - havent asked dh to pee on it as trying not to panic him. perhaps i could get ds or dd to do it lol

tried tap water...actually spent a few seconds considering the temperature said tap water should be. decided on warm ish in the end as pee would be warm

Anyway my tap water is very slightly pregnant but really really really squint and hold up to the light pregnant. I however can see the line - although very faint without squinting from a normal distance for me. there is a fairly obvious difference betwene my pregnant tap water and pregnant me. Actually...wasnt there some study showing female hormones in our water supply? maybe all the pregnant women in my area are peeing lots and there is actually hcg in it. now i am going mad

Still not sure - a cb digi last night (couldnt resist) said not pregnant. Have now seen a job i really want to apply for so that increases my changes of me being pregnant by default. The lines are getting darker but still really faint. Perhaps I still have left over hcg in my system at a very low level as dd is only 12 weeks?
