Ok, I am 8 weeks pregnant with 2 baby, everything was plodding along fine until last week, I now have ALL DAY and ALL NIGHT sickness, I've not actually been sick, but spent an hour croutched by the toilet wretching to no avail this morning (glamourous!) I just constantly feel like Im going to throw up, but its the most bizarre feeling, like when you don';t eat for hours and feel funny, Im also suffering from terrible insomnia, I am awake 3-4 hours during the night but have absolutley no energy during the day, but can't sleep.
Now the interesting bit, I am sporting a small bump already, last pregnancy didn't get bump till 6 months then went on to have an 8lb10oz baby!
SO this morning I ring dr cuz I feel like Im falling outta my own backside, and she says, I quote "Your symptoms mean your probably having twins as they are so strong and you didnt have any during first pregnancy"!
Now twins do run in both mine and my partners families but seriously could she be right?? How can I find out? I can't wait for anther 4 weeks till my scan!
I do have a 2 yr old and work full-time so wonder if this is what is making me ill?
I do suffer quite severly with panic attacks and anxiety, so maybe its all in my head? also Im a coeliac, could this be whats causing it??? Please help!

i was convinced i was having twins this time as i was so incredibly ill and tired for the first 4 months it was terrrifying.

it was my third and while i was ill with dd, it wasn't nearly as bad and with ds i was barely sick at all.

i also got a bump at about 7/8 weeks this time.

i paid for an early scan i was so paniced about twins..... and gues what, not only is there only 1 in there but now at 22 weeks my bump is being described as small and neat by everyone!

if your really worried get the doc to book you in for a scan to check for twins as it's no harm to be sure.

not sure what to say about the twin thing except you could pay for a private scan?

i have coeliacs disease too by the way, i'm 9 weeks pregnant with no 2 and am constantly nauseous but don't this the coeliac thing has anything to do with it. Did you get diagnosed after having your first? i did they blamed pregnancy for bringing it on!

Mamakin,
I was diagnosed the day before my daughters 1st bday!
I have always had trouble with my blood but they've never been able to suss out what was causing it, am ALWAYS anameic!
Then July 2007 I was convinced I was dying! Had awful stomach cramps, kept being sick and had awful runs, al I could do was sleep, I had numerous test and scans and they couldnt find anything wrong, then in the september the dr randomly tested for coeliac and it was positive! Its funny cuz Ive never really liked bread! But yeah coeliac nurse said it was the come down of pregnancy hormones that bought it on!

I am 7 weeks and feeling the same sort of symptoms as you, but I had the same with ds, so just think it is part and parcel of pgy for me. Maybe I am having twins too , but I think some pgies are just worse than other for nausea.

Eat carbs every couple of hours - I find savoury foods are more palatable than sweet -drink frequently, but leave some time between eating and drinking. Have a large glass of milk at bedtime (are you allowed milk - ignorance alert - if not find out if you can take a calcium supplement and have it at bedtime). Get as much rest as feasibly possible.

If your symptoms are REALLY bad keep on at your gp, there may be some drugs to help out.

It got so bad that it had caused my anxiety and panic attacks, at one stage it got so bad I couldnt even leave the house to go in the backgarden, thankfully I had lots of counseling an therapy, which has helped but it still comes back to haunt me on some occasions, did you get any of this?

Bluebutterfly, thanks for you advice, milk is fine, its wheat and gluten that I can't have.
The very thought of eating at the moment is making my stomach churn.
Its a pain in the bum cuz I never had any of htis first time round!!!!
Why do Drs feel the need to put the fear of god in oyu? When I first found out I was pregnant I was geting tummy cramps all the time, Dr said "either someones setting up camp in there or its an eptopic pregnancy, but try not to worry!!!!"

I have no dietary issues but had a bump straight away and puked 4 times a day for the first 5 months. I was exhausted and started to think it was twins. Just the one though!

Good luck

the difficult thing with the nausea is you want to eat something like crackers/biscuits/toast etc - but bloody can't!
