Pregnancy

16-17 weeks, 1st baby - lopsided, swollen bump, is this normal?

Havent got my midwifee's number as she STILL hasnt sent me my notes. Do you think this is normal?

My modest bump always feels more swollen in the morning but this morning it was particularly pronounced on the right hand side, really quite hard, but much more squidgy on the left hand side.

A tiny bit concerned, only because I've got quite painful lower backache that woke me up in the night and yesterday evening weird muscle pulling sort of feelings above my bikini line which made me bend over and were a bit painful.

I've heard you can have a misaligned pelvis (?), or am I just making a big deal out of nothing?

Could it be constipation? Im 16.5wks and find that digestion has a big impact on size and shape of my "bump".

Defiantely worth talking to GP about if you cant talk to MW. Does seem odd that you dont have notes. Didnt you have to take them to your wk scan?

I don't think it sounds unusual. They do move around and stick in some awkward and uncomfortable positions. Also I always looked bigger in the morning.

First of all contact someone if you are concerned.

However the bigger bumps get the weirder they are, just wait until you are 38 weeks anf the baby is all on one side!

Mild backache is very normal in pregnancy, your posture gets gradually worse and your centre of gravity changes which you will try and compensate for, plus your ligaments and muscles get looser and stretch.

The 'pulled muscle' feeling above your bikini line is almost certainly those ligaments stretching again.

All sounds uncomfortable, but normal, imo.

I am 17 weeks and this morning I looked at my not insubstantial bump and thought hmmm it looks a bit lopsided. It seems to ahve sorted itself out now so assume someone has moved round a bit (or the bit full english I eat provided some extra padding). Don't think its anything to worry about (and believe me I worry about most things... hmm.. maybe I should worry about this).

As for notes, we get them after the 20 week scan. Thelonger they keep them the better - in my first pregnancy I put them out with the recycling by mistake at about 25 weeks. DH keeps saying they're not going to give me mine at all this time as they won't trust me.

My baby was ROA (head down, back on my right side) from 17 weeks (I had a scan then) so my bump was lopsided throughout! Much better that than back to back/breech etc although obviously there's bags of time to shift, my lazy lad didn't appear to though!

My bump was completly lopsided throughout most of my pregnancy - particularily towards the end. It looked so odd. I only have streatchmarks on my right hand side too!!

None of the midwifes or the GP that saw me showed any concern - I too wondered if I had a lopsided pelvis. They seemed to think it was completely normal.

I then got paranoid that he would come out with a squashed face or lopsided face but he was absolutely perfect!

At the moment your little one has got loads of room to play around in,so im sure all will be fine.

Thanks for your replies!

The muscle pains seem to be better today although the backache hurts quite a bit.

As you say, I'm sure it's all fine, it probably where I've slept on my side and its all slipped or something

Am seeing m/w on Wed so will mention it then.

(re notes - hospital lost them, twice, and then midwife lost them, I didnt have any for my 12 wk scan and she said she'd send them to me so I had her phone number but they havent come. I'm sure I'll see them again one day...)
