Can anyone really tell if they are seeing arms/elbows/feet poking out of bump...

or am I just to fat to tell?

I can see things moving around in there, but no way would I be able to say "yup, that was definitely a foot."

oh, yes, i was definitely able to identify dd's body parts, esp her elbows, but then I was skeletally thin due to severe nausea and reflux!

Heh, I've been thinking this recently too. I'm nearly 33 weeks and all I can see is a collection of lumps.

Thought something was a foot for ages last pg then MW pointed out it was an elbow

I had twins and a singleton pregnancy and never had a clue, but then mine never hurt when they kicked either - something to do with my placentas being at the front?

I definetly saw foot shapes with ds1, couldn't distinguish anything with ds2.

lol chocbiscuits - I've thought I had a foot wedged under my ribs for the last few weeks, turns out it's his head.

To luckylady74: yes, I've got an 'anterior' placenta and don't feel too many of the pokes and nudges - plus it's hard to tell what exactly is sticking out so maybe your placenta is at the front too, bohemianbint.

I could 'grab' dd3's foot sometimes!!! Truly it stuck out so much!!

Nope - no idea - 27 weeks with twins - one anterior placentor and one posterior - no idea on either side.

(placenta even!)

I would think I had an idea, but then a "foot" would stick out on both sides at once, so I think I was deluding myself.

ONly really near the end. The I could see elbows etc - hard to tell the difference between an elbow or foot though.

DS1 I could see his foot once very clearly, but other than that I have never been able to tell other than 'was that a bum or a head?', or 'was that a foot or an elbow?'!

I do remember the MW taking ages once showing me where everything was, I really got it, thought I'd be able to tell from then on, DH came home from work I led down to show him it all, and was more cufuddled about it than ever!

Yes - sometimes I could actually see four tiny knuckles in a row sweeping slowly across my tum ...

Oh I used to love that. We were on holiday when I was about 6 mths pg with DD (now 9 months old). We were lying in bed chatting when two huge lumps appeared on my tummy - we think she was having a good old stretch in there.

Apparently last time my placenta was at the front, which saved me from the damn good kicking that this one is giving me! Sometimes it's really quite painful; I feel like it's trying to untie my belly button, or that it is actually managing to kick my hip bone. Very different to last time. Still can't tell what's what though, glad it's not just me! Perhaps I'll ask the midwife to explain it to me next time...

All the way through my pregnancy with dd, I thought I could see her arm, and I affectionately used to stroke it sometimes.

Turned out to be a really really bad hernia.

I was absolutely accurate on the size of DS's feet - he used to give a big stretch in the morning and these two feet would appear on the side of my bump.

My colleague was pg with twins at the same time, and you could see DT2's bum outlined.
