How do I prepare my DD age 3 for my impending c-section?

Booked for a section in 2 wk and i want to prepare my dd age 3 for it without frightening her. I know what to expect but I am more worried about her visiting and not being able to have hugs and stuff and her freaking out over the drip and other medical stuff, any advice?

can you show her some pictures of drips so she will know what it is. Explain its to give you something that will help you heal quicker or something. Also explain that you won't be able to have hugs for a few days as you are a bit sore.

Think she may be more interested in the baby than the drip....

By the time my dd (just 4) visited me (later that evening) all the medical 'stuff' had been removed so it was just me in the bed. Mine was an emergency c section so she had no advance knowledge- just answer any questions she has and you'll be fine to give her lots of hugs! I couldn't pick dd up during the pg so it was a continuation of that post section and she was quite happy
with it.
Dd now quite happily tells people that she came out mummy's bottom but her brother cam through mummy's tummy. I just told her that the doctors had to make a little cut in my tummy so ds could get out but it would be better in a few days and she mustn't worry about me- seemed to work

I was worried about how honest to be with her, she hasnt asked yet how the baby comes out, do i say they had to cut my tummy? Also she has become v.clingy in the last few wk so dont know how she will cope with me not picking her up. Also last time my drip/cathetar didnt come out until the next day but things must have changed since then so hopefully I will be able to get it all removed before her 1st visit
