Hi ladies,

Im 14 weeks, well 15 tomorrow! and this last week ive had such a sore and stiff shoulders and neck, which I think is the reason for my horrible headaches. Ive taken a couple of paracetamol, and this doesnt seem to do anything. Did anyone else suffer from this, and do you have any recommendations on what might help.

My doctors are closed this afternoon, but Iam going to go tomorrow and get my blood pressure checked.

Thanks
x

I have had this too.

The best thing to do is to drink plenty of water and try not to over do it.
Keep taking paracetamel, it should help a little...
Is it muscular - have you lifted something awkward or slept badly?

A good idea to get checked out though.

Hope you feel better soon.

hi there
i had awful migraines in my first pregnancy and as soon as i found out i was pg again i got a migraine again - so quickly it seemed almost psychological. your headaches, like migraines, are probably related to the huge surge in hormones. have a look at my thread on migraines - it was only last week. one straightforward thing you can do is take soluble paracetamol plus coca cola at the same time. this makes the paracetamol hit the pain faster and harder. if you do that the moment you feel a twinge it can prevent it coming on. plus the usual stuff about eating regularly and not getting dehydrated. i'm not a dr, just passing on what i've learned.

I had this till about 17 weeks, it was horrendous - so painful. I had similar when puberty hit, so maybe hormonal? But what really worked for me was Indian head massages. Released all the stress and tension that headaches cause, and focused on upper back, shoulders, neck, head and face. (In my case I think one severe headache can almost guarantee another, just because of the tension build-up.) It worked miracles for a couple of days after. If I'd had the cash I'd have had them twice-weekly.

Thanks for all your advice, ill still keep taking the paracetamol, and trying to book in an indian head massage as I type this. I brought some of the migraine Kool and soothe strips yesterday, and they have given me some relief!
Thanks

Have a look at the Bowen Technique - very gentle and safe throughout pregnancy - It has amazing results and I'm sure it would make you more comfortable.
