so I'm about to go on the holiday of a lifetime - planned and saved for for months and months, dreamed about forever etc. Two weeks ago found out I was pregnant - massive surprise! So I'm about to head into the wilderness, camping, spending most of the day in an overland truck, very few proper loos etc with horrendous morning sickness. Not sure how I'm going to cope!

Anyone else done this or something similar and not let their pregnancy stop them? Need positive stories!

Sorry luvy, I cant tell you that I went on a holiday of a life time but when I was pregnant with my 1st I had the worst morning sickness ever. All day and night, every day and the full nine months, obviously because of the amount of sickness and the length of time it went on I had to just carry on. I went to work everyday - I honestly did not miss 1 day.

However go and see your midwife who should book you an appointment to see your doctor to get some tablets to stop the sickness. I have just got them and they have helped alot. I would also mention the holiday to them and see what they recommend.

Good luck xx

How far away will you be from good emergency health care? That would be my main concern.

Is there any possibility of delaying the holiday until after the first 12 weeks?

You might not get morning sickness BUT I would not be happy drinking uncertain water, eating risky food, exposure to strange bugs etc. It would probably be fine but I would definitely be worried. How soon do you set off?

go, enjoy it, make loads of good crazy travelling memories for those long nights feeding baby

i went to india when 5wks with ds1.
things i found hardest to deal with were the heat and food.
try to keep cool - clothes, shade, drink lots of water (obv bottled if somewhere dodgy).
early on find a good source of SOMETHING that you can eat, crackers, crisps, anything, and stockpile it, in case you go off food but need something to keep things down.
i took packets of ginger nuts with me, they last ages.

you'll be weeing lots probably but behind bushes will be fine! or you invest in a weemee/shewee whatever it's called for women to wee standing up?

you might not be that ill, i wasn't...

ooh, where are you going??
