Hi there

I am 24 wks on friday. This is my first baby. I'm just a bit concerned as I am really not showing all that much. I know you don't tend to with your first but I though I would have a bit of a baby bump by now! I am checked out regularly at the clinic as I have a cyst aswell so I know everything in ok so far but I just look like I've eaten too many pies!! Has anyone else found this at this stage!! Anyone know when it might start to develop in to a big and proud definate baby bump?!

Thanks for listening
x

Have you seen Nicole Kidman???

I wanted to wear maternity clothes from really early on - we all want a lovely bump but please don't stress. If your midwife thinks you're okay then that's all you need to know.

I go to a mother and baby group every week and there's a girl there who is due in 4 weeks but looked like I did at 20 weeks!! Please don't worry.

it could happen overnight, i swear. i didn't have a big bump either and was made to feel a bit paranoid about it sometimes but in those final weeks when all your pregnant mates can't move, sleep or do anything much except whinge... that's when it all comes right for us.

Some women just don't. Ppl who didn't know I was pg at work only noticed at about 32 weeks. The bump was distinctly more visible for me somewhere between 24-26 weeks. I also met a woman on the labour ward and she was of solid girth but had no visible bump at all.

yep, i delivered dd at 38 weeks and was still in my 'fat' clothes rather than maternity, people couldn't always tell. and i'm not fat.

I assume that if you are already 24wks then you have had your 20wk scan? The baby is measured at the 20wk scan and if it was small on any of the measurements they would've asked you to come back in a couple of weeks and they'd measure it again. If this hasn't happened then your baby was fine at 20wks. Everyone carries differently, some ladies don't even know they're pregnant until they've gone into labour on the loo!

Im also 24 weeks and if people dont know they dont realise - I think they think I have just eaten too much!

Its nothing to worry about as long as your mw is happy - some people just carry differently.

I didn't show untill 6 months with ds1 this time round I am bloody massive (as big as i was when 8 months+ with ds) and only 24 weeks.
Don't worry its much nicer that way not having a big bump untill later on I am so uncomfortable and have got a whole hot sticky summer being huge .

I had this. No real visible (other than to me) bump until somewhere between six and seven months I think (still wearing pre-maternity jumpers and so forth). Kept being sent for growth scans as everyone was worried the baby was too small. On the day I was in labour (a week overdue) the consultant voiced his concern about the size. 12 hours later DS appeared - weighing in at a whopping 10lb 7oz. No idea where he was hiding - but it does go to show that you oughtn't to worry too much about the bump size ...

Also a person who is carrying small! I started to look properly pregnant rather than just bit-of-a-gut gaining weight at well over 30 weeks - maybe 32+. I'm still carrying small and in Mothercare two weeks ago (35 weeks) I was chatting to women who said 'oh you'll be pregnant all summer in this hot weather'... er, no! Due in 5 weeks!!
I could have hidden my pregnancy until about a month ago. (I wore tight clothes to make it more obvious!).
A friend of mine hardly had a bump when she gave birth. She also didn't realise she was pregnant until 30 weeks, but that's another story...
