Pregnancy

Heavy cold and heavily pregnant- really getting me down now. What can I do?

I'm 36 weeks and have had a big green (sorry TMI) productive cold now for 2 weeks.

Unable to breathe clearly and have coughed and blown nose so much it hurts my tummy, and worried it will hurt baby. Have to curl up in a ball now when I feel a cough coming. Sore throat has been waking me up at night it's so painful.

I feel drained and miserable.

Anyone got any non-harmful home cures to dry this up? Is it time to see my GP? (could she really do anything to help?)

Worth going to your GO in case you have a chest infection. Poor you

if a cold, not much you can do beyond paracetemol, plenty of fruit and water and rest.

Thanks Effie, I do feel that this has gone on longer than it should and what energy I should have at 8 months is all but gone. I'll make an apt to see someone as soon as the switchboard is open.

I'm only 22 weeks but have just managed to shake off 3 weeks of heavy cold. Boots' own labels "Honey, Lemon and Glyecerine Linctus" says that you can take it whilst pg and bf on the bottle. It's not full of miracle cure medication, but it made me feel better.

Poor you, that sounds horrible Have you tried breathing over a steam bath to ease congestion? Bowl full of boiling hot water, face over bowl, towel over head...might help a bit.

Thanks AHLH- I'll try to get some; there's a Boots on the way to the supermarket. The sore throat has had me crying and bog standard honey & lemon is great at the time but the effects just don't last. Glad you have shaken your bug.

Cyteen- I've never looked forward so much to a long hot shower in the morning and am getting through lots of cups of hot water. Can't do that much during daytime with toddler. Thanks for posting.
