Yorkhire Mums - What high street shops actually stock maternity clothes ?

Well I'm between Leeds and Sheffield, and as far as I can tell everywhere sells them mail order/online, but no one keeps them in stock for me to try on. I like to try clothes on, especially jeans! I'm a bit out in the sticks (and not feeling up to much!), but will make the effort to go into a city centre, if anyone can tell me if there are any branches of shops that have maternity clothes in store. I know there's Blooming Marvellous in Harrogate, but I'm not keen on anything in the catalogue.

Next? New Look? Dotty P? H&M?

In York, H&M and New Look have them. Or did 2 years ago!
However if I were you, before going anywhere specially I would ring them up - I once trekked out to Asda in search of maternity clothes cos my friend had got hers there and it turned out they had stopped stocking them several months earlier

Leeds city centre:
Debenhams stocks Red Herring Maternity
Topshop downstairs
H&M has quite a good section (not the one near house of Frasier though, the other one)
Dotty P's

I think the big M&S does as well

Formes has recently shut down.

I'm in Leeds and have being trying to find out myself. One of the H&Ms has a tiny maternity section. Gap on Briggate has a reasonable collection. The Next in the town centre doesn't, but apparently the larger store in Birstall does (near the Ikea)

That's all I've found so far, but I haven't done a thorough search

Where abouts are you AHLH? You don't sound far away form me

Dorothy Perkins do maternity and H&M do - both of these in Meadowhall.

There is this shop in Harrogate www.nunumaternitywear.co.uk/www.nunumaternitywear.net/info.php?p=1&pno=0
I have no idea what it's like as my pregnancy days are long behind me.

hiya

i has a nightmare at first but managed to get about 4 pairs of trousers from dorothy perkins and some vest tops (white rose centre) bought a couple of isabella oliver wrap tops online as they can grow with you (check out ebay as they're much cheaper)
i went to mothercare in bradford for some bits (not really my taste but got some good basics). New look in both Bradford and Halifax have maternity range. H&M in leeds is worth a look, its downstairs by the kids stuff though to save you wandering confused...

other than that I actually bought a few pairs of yoga pants from peacocks a couple of sizes larger than my normal when i was about 6 months and bought various tunic style tops early on, again in larger sizes, as my boobs shot up and i needed the extra space!

There is a shop called Expecting in York if you're over that way. Nice stuff - but at a price. The mamas and papas store at Monks Cross, York has maternity as well.

There's quite few Wakefield/Huddersfield/Barnsley Mnetters around AHLH - have a look on the meet up threads and join us sometime!
Are you originally from round here?

Next and Dotty P at Birstall (next to IKEA)both have maternity, and there is a Mamas & Papas store there too which sells maternity stuff. There's also Toys'R'Us and Gap, so you can do all your baby shopping in one fell swoop

second expecting in York, the things I've bought there have stayed looking nice & been comfy. She has good sales too! Useful thread for me as I'm in Hull. I also got some yoga pants from TK Maxx and I think I'll get some more, they're seriously comfy AND flattering.

Isn't there a mothercare on the York Ring Road, they do quite a big range (although most of their trousers/jeans are pretty rubbish tbh).

Hi AHLH, Meadowhall has all the high street stores maternity ranges- off the top of my head Top Shop, New Look, Next, DP's, M&S, Red Herring in Debenhams- also MotherCare, Mamas & Papas and Pumpkin Patch- plus plenty of pitstops for tired mum-to-be's- it's hell on a weekend though! Plus you can do baby shopping- oh yes and have an enormous pizza at the end...! From you it'll be 30 mins tops drive I reckon?

There's also a Mamas & Papas discount store just off the Leeds Rd in Huddersfield.

Thanks for that ladies, I am now kitted up in much more comfy clothes! "Did" Meadowhall yesterday (Sunday), which was as bad as you can expect on a wet weekend, but asCarrieHD9 said, big pizza at the end - actually it was Ben and Jerry's but same idea!
