I broke six ribs a few years ago - didn't give birth but did still go through several martial arts exams (long, strenuous and required extreme exertion).

Quite honestly, after three weeks the pain pretty much diminished, so it depends how long you have to go. The only things that can help recover quicker are rest and not laughing too much. I also found that I needed to sit up really well to stop pain.

Hope you feel better soon.

thanks, ive been in pain now for 4 weeks and twice two different doctors said it was musclar pain. after another long painfully and sleepless night last week i booked in at a clinic to see what they would say about it and i was told ive cracked my ribs {silly doctors }. ive got 3 weeks left before my due date. but i had my dd at 36 wks so i could go at anytime now.

i coughed and i heard a really loud noise and was curled over in agony thats why my doctors must have thought i had pulled just a muscle but when i went to the clinic the lady there said the inflamation from the muscles and coughing cracked them.

Ah now you see that's actually a good thing. If you have just cracked them (I know saying just doesn't consider the amount it bloody hurts) but it's better that you did it with a minor injury because you will recover better. Mine were broken when I landed on a metal bar at about 20 mph after being thrown across a room (now there was no question it was bruising there - I was purple within five minutes).

You should take paracetamol regularly to control the pain - it'll stop you holding yourself funny and make it easier to heal.

Hopefully your bump will take the hint and hang in there a while longer. But hey, if you went through childbirth with just entenox before you probably have a high pain threshold - you'll be fine.
