Is there anything that can be done? I am 29 weeks and helped yesterday at our NCT sale, which involved lifting, bending and carrying things, which I thought nothing of. Then I got home and realised how much pain I was in I feel almost like the bottom half of my back has just got stuck. I can't sit down properly, bend down or stand up straight, or get comfortable to sleep. Once I am on a position I am kind of stuck. know I can't take painkillers, but if I call the midwife tomorrow will she actually be able to help me or is it just something I will have to put up with? I have never had problems with my back before and am shocked how much it hurts and how much it has limited me, I haven't been able to play with dd and I can see weeks stretched ahead of me sitting at home bent over like a little old lady!

You poor thing. Not had my back go when pregnant but have certainly had it go badly before and since (and suffer with back problems during) so know where you are coming from. The midwife will, I suspect, not be much use. You need a referral to see the physio from your GP really. If it is really bad just head to A&E and you'll see one there - but obviously probably not a good idea if you'd have to go with your dd. The physios are normally pretty good in my experience and sympathetic - you can even self refer in some places.
