Yuk yuk yuk - I am so fed up of hawking up this disgusting goo every morning, constantly blowing my nose and being woken in the night with a sore throat because I can only breathe through my mouth.
Any remedies?

Try steam inhalation with or without some menthol?

Thanks Ceolas - am trying to find ancient bottle of olbas oil which should be round here somewhere!

TheBlonde - did speak to GP and she mentioned steroids? Antibiotics seem to have an adverse effect on digestion with me. How did they work for you?

not sure what steroids would do?

I had really painful sinusitis, couldn't sleep and it did sort it out

SO know what you mean, as soon as my head hits the pillow my nasal passages seem to shrink. Can't breathe, sore throat when I wake up and then in the morning coughing up all sorts of horribleness with a bloody nose. Yuk. Lovely thing to write on a Sunday morning! I haven't had any remedy other than a saline spray called Sterimar which I was able to buy at my local Sainsburys. I used it when I used to be an opera singer and it does keep my nose more hydrated than otherwise.

Blonde, am thinking I misheard, I cant imagine what steroids would do either. My sinuses are okay, its the guck at the back of my throat driving me nuts! It actually bothers me more than pelvic pain.

AussieDiva - do you think your remedy might work on loosening said guck?

Lol Sunday evening and we're still talking about it - lovely!

hey BM, it really does help to loosen up everything. Good thing is that it's simply saline too, so no concerns about the wrong essential oils etc etc (Ive been warned off the Olbas and Vicks because of the stimulating oils). It also stops your nose from drying out too much overnight. You can also use it on babies and children so you should get some good use out of it...hope you feel a bit better soon and have a good day! I've got to go and make my DD lunch and wake the lazy little cutie up for nursery...oh for a sleep in!

Tincture of echinacea root - won't relieve symptoms straight away but should help you get rid of your cold quicker. Was the only thing that worked for me with similar after weeks of hacking away. GP was fine with me taking too.

I always suffer like this when I'm pregnant. Deep sympathies!
