Does the baby really move less towards full term?

I'm asking because I'm nearly 38 weeks and my baby's movements have slowed down a bit. She still wriggles and shoves her bum in the air (thanks for that) but she just isn't as frisky as usual. Her heartbeat was checked yesterday and was fine but it is unerving to not have her move so much when I'm used to be booted about the place.

This is normal though. Er, isn't it?

i'm 37 weeks, baby has been really quiet for last couple of weeks, notwithstanding a few days ago when he spent 3 hours overnight in constant major upheaval - evidently packing his belongings and taking down the bookshelves in order to go from being in perfect head down anterior to breech with hard head jammed up under my ribs. joy!

LadySanders you make me laugh! Although I am mortified that babes can turn this late in the pregnancy. I've been most smug in the knowledge that my nipper had been head down for donkeys. If she turns now I'll have a bloody fit.

well from the size of me it can't be just baby in there, i can only assume at the very least he's got one of those curvy smeg fridges, a plasma screen tv and some ikea billy units in there along with him.

i am crawling round the house on hands and knees as much as possible to try to persuade him to go back to where he was... provoking much hilarity in my house...

It's totally normal for babies to move less at this stage but if you are worried go and get monitored at the hospital. Last year my dd stopped moving and everyone told me it was normal but my instinct said otherwise. I took myself off to hospital and she was delivered by emergency c-section and I have been told she would not have made it if I had waited. I am sure your lo is fine as less movements are very normal and my lo had not moved at all for over 24 hours. Best Wishes to you and I hope your baby is good and comes out soon for you!
