How much weight gain is usual by halfway through?

I'm 22weeks and can't remember how much i'd put on by this point last time so am getting scared at my trousers being slightly tighter, although this being my 2nd pregnancy i'm bigger than last time anyway... Just wondered how much other people put on? Only because i am so useless at exercising afterwards!

I don't think there is a "usual"- it's probably one of those how long is a piece of string questions! Not what you wanted to hear I know

Personally, I'd be able to rationalise the slight tightness of trousers away really easily by reasoning that they've been washed more often by now and so have shrunk a little bit!

I did very little exercise after giving birth last time as part of me thought "what's the blimmin reason of dieting if I'm just gonna get pregnant again if we go for bubs no.2" so don't feel too bad at not wanting to exercise much There's plenty of time

Good luck
x

Probably true about the washing as i live with DS! Don't know why i'm worrying about it really, i'm only going to get larger - think it still comes as a shock how big you get when pregnant even if you've done it before!

I think that the guideline for the full pregnancy is 11-15kgs. With DS1 I put on 15 (but had him at 35 wks) with DS2 I put on 17. I am 20weeks for DD1 and have put on 5.5 which I think is only slightly higher than the guide for this point in the pregnancy. I know several women who were tiny pre-pregnancy who put on 20-30kgs but they seem to have lost it no probs pretty quickly afterwards. So long as you are not sitting on the lounge every night feasting on boxes of choccies I think it is OK to put on a bit. I just try to keep track of my fresh fruit and vege intake. This is my third pregnancy and it seems to have gone out of vogue to weigh pregnant women at their appointments - probably because women were being overly concerned about the whole celebrity Yummy Mummy standards.
