hi all
am very early pregnant with 3rd child and a tad worried about how this is going to go.

I had a mc before successful pg with dd1 and was so frightened during that pregnancy I wouldn't do anything and put on 4 stone - she was 10lb4 of it but still didn't manage to lose it by bf or other methods

just before getting pg with second dd I lost a stone and half and was determined not to put on as much weight, only gained 19lb and she was 11lb1

managed to lose 2.5 stone this year but have piled it all back on far too easily and now pg with third

I know we're not allowed to actively diet but has anyone got any cunning tips etc to stop me craving lucozade?!?!?!!?

I also was bigger during pregnancy than I would have liked. I tend to put on weight right after they are born tho, comfort eating I think.

I suggest making your own healthy veg soup and keeping it in mugs in the fridge to heat up when you get cravings for other drinks, so first you have the soup, then the lucozade. Might help a bit!

Also I wouldnt worry about it and after the baby is here and when you feel ready then do a decent diet etc.

Hi and congrats!

I'm 39 weeks and size 20/22 so very definitely plus sized and all I can say is, just go with it. It depends on how you're feeling but I know at the beginning I was so sick that all I could stomach was chocolate milk (the nice posh gooey stuff!) and fat lemonade. I thought I was headed for double hugeness but have only put on 1.5 stones which I don't think is toooo bad.

At this stage I wouldn't worry about anything except getting through each day at a time in whatever way helps you and if it's Lucozade, then so be it! When things even out a bit later on, then worry about healthy eating if you can - I didn't quite manage it but I figure if I get my arse into gear this year then I will have plenty of time to sort myself out.

Hark at me, nearing the end of first pg and I'm an expert LOL!

I'm not pg, but am TTC (on the 2ww, so who knows!) I'm a size 24-26 and weigh 15 and a half stone. I am a stone and a half heavier than when I was first pg with ds and I am very worried about being pg and being big. If I am not pg this month I am going to try to lose a little.

I recall someone from when I was pg with my ds saying that their doctor said it was OK for them to lose 1lb per week while pregnant. I know most info says do not diet while pg, but perhaps you could speak to your own doctor and see what they say.

I think if you stick to a healthy diet and do some gentle exercise you should find things no so severe as your first (as you say you did nothing )

Speak to your Midwife about antinatal swimming classes, ours are like aerobics in the pool. Also walk anywhere if you can rather than Drive. Drink lots of water rather than Lucozade.

I am plus sized too and was really worried about gaining too much but in fact I was so ill I lost a Stone in my 1st 3 months. I was worried and spoke to the Midwife who was very kind and said she thought the lo would be fine as I seemed to have a few reserves It was a change to worry about losing rather than gaining! She even gave me a leaflet on being overwieght and PG which was quite good as it gave advice on taking vitamins etc not eating too much fat and sugar. Only thing is with healthy eating and pregnancy is the "diet" does not always allow for large tubs of Cherry Garcia at 4am

thanks ladies, am glad to know am not the only one out here.

Ik know it may sound ridiclious as am constantly going between 18/20 on the bottom and 20/22 on the top but am a fit plus size, we eat a good diet with the 2 dds and i walk the dog, am lucky where I live that when its dry walking is a pleasure. I really need to get back into the pool though as I think it'll be my pelvis that takes the strain as it did the first two times, am just a little supersticious and wanting my first scan over with before I embark on anything!

I'm a heavy size 20 (well I was when I got pregnant - around 16.5st). I'm 37+4 today (with my first) and have had no problems other than some very minor spotting at about 7 weeks (good blood pressure etc), some water retention for the last 6 weeks or so (minor) and more uncomfortable swollen feet and hands for the last couple of weeks (all checked out by the midwife and fine)

I tried to be active but everything got away from me in the exhaustion of the first few weeks, and I found it impossible to stay fit (I was running with a group once a week, plus plenty of other exercise and pretty fit for my size) but have managed to keep reasonably active with walking.

I know its done "a done deal" for me yet, but I've been fairly relaxed about eating (worrying more about getting the veggies and calcium in than about calories) and feel pretty good, and relaxed (if fed up of waiting) about the idea of birth.

I say just follow other people's advice about gentle regular exercise, and stay relaxed :-)

I was a 16 when I fell with DS1 - afterwards an 18.
Was an 18 when fell with DS2 -afterwards a 20.
Am hoping I may be pregnant for the 3rd and final time although I was going to shed 4 stone year, that was the plan anyway.

I was plus sized for both pregs and births and had a 9.9 and 10.b12 babes. No complications during preg or birth and one missed miscarriage before DS1.

IF I am preg. and it is a big if but you never know i am going to do my damnedest to eat really healthily this time as I have gained just over 4 stone so far doing the baby thing and don't feel like myself anymore.

ah ladyoftheflowers - your story sounds EXACTLY like mine. I had mc before dd1, was size 16/18 when I got pregnant and 18-20 afterwards managed to drop to 18 for dd2 and am now pregnant again at 18/20

I was all in for the 4stone weight loss during the year too and /had managed to drop 2.5 stone but gave into my stressed comfort eating and piled it all back on

I suppose am just terrified am going to be in local paper as woman who had 14lb baby

as soon as confirmed at scan, 3 weeks today and feeling better, swimming and healthy eating shall commence!!

at least the fashion market has cottoned on to the fact that us larger ladies need nice matty clothes too!! when I was pregnant first time I had to manage on

I'll keep my fingers crossed for a positive for you
