Umbilical hernia in twin pregnancy

I have just discovered i have an umbilical hernia, am 34 wks pg with twins due 2nd feb.
For the last couple of weeks have had what i can only describe as a tearing pain around the area of my belly button, really feels like my skin is about to tear open.My actual belly button has turned black over the last week.
This morning while lying in bed i feel a small lump which is tender and can be pushed back in but pops out when i stand up again and is there all the time unless i pop it back in, but it just pops straight back out.

What to do ?? Already have 3 other kids but never had this before. Will try to catch doc surgery on monday but mondays are bad as it is at our surgery without it being xmas eve!
Will this be at risk of strangulation with pressure form babies? Tummy is measuring 44cms at 34 weeks, babies weighed 4 1/2lbs each at scan 2 weeks ago so quite large babies. And the black belly button ?? Surely not a good sign?

I would try getting in touch with your midwife as well - and if you can't then ring the labour ward - they will at least be able to point you in the right direction. Or if you are worried - ring NHS direct tonight and get a medical opinion.

Bottom line - if the babies are born now they should be fine.

I would definately contact your midwife - not sure whether its any help or not but I managed to get a hernia in my groin when I was pregnant with ds2.

i have an umbilical hernia have had it for about 3 yrs but my doc asked if i wanted to go on list 2 have it operated on or leave it and see if it burst and go hospital as an emergency so i opted to wait. it have now got a bit bigger since and am now 19wks pregs and found out i have another small hernia further down but they said nothing to worry about.
they are going to do something with it after i give birth to this baby also get me in for a sterilisation due to health risks.

PLEASE READ THIS
hi me again just to give you an update on this,a couple of days ago i was doubled over in pain for 3 whole hours thought i was dying it felt like my belly was gona explode i went to docs next day as was still in pain and doc said it was my hernia and found another one but sent me to hospital to check it out but they cant do anything whilst im pregnant so after i have given birth in may when the baby is 3wks old they are going to operate on me and get rid of my hernias.

i was wondering if the further you get with the pregnancy does it get worse like the docs said as the pain was bad enough and i dont think i could cope with that again.
