Hi All

I am currenly 17+6 and a first time mum. I just wondered when I would be likely to start to feel bubba move? I sat the other day nice and quiet with my hands on my tummy and felt a 'thump' but wasnt sure if this was baby or movements in my stomach lol. Also havent felt anything since I dont think. I am also not the skinniest (size 16) so I understand it may take a while longer to feel but just wondered how long it was for eveyone else? I am desparate to feel him/her move!

Thanks in advance

You may feel 'flutterings' from about 18-20 weeks. But at first you may not realise that these feelings are baby moving. Proper, large movements are around 23 weeks or so.

The margin is big - 16-24 weeks! So frustrating when you're a ftm waiting though!!

I was about 18 weeks. But just now and then flutters till 22 weeks or so.

I felt thumps about that time, very sporadically. I didn't really feel any flutterings or subtle movements, though I have an anterior placenta. Thumps were more regular by 20 weeks but still not daily until 23 weeks or so

I'm 27 weeks with my first today. The first movements I felt were at 20+1, it felt like someone very gently running the back of their knuckles along the inside of my tummy. I didn't feel movement every day for another 3 or 4 weeks (although it was increasing) and I was past 23 weeks before it was strong enough for DH to feel it. It's possible to see my tummy move now but it looks more like muscles twitching, not like any particular body parts yet! HTH! X

First pregnancy was at 15 weeks when I wasn't Trying to feel anything. It almost felt like little bubbles. This time even earlier. Everyone is different and you should feel your lil one soon! Hang in there. I'm now 36 weeks and as reassuring as is to feel, I feel bruised internally and get woken up by kicks to the ribs... I miss those little flutters Smile

Thanks everyone! Eastscones, I know my mum said to me 'enjoy the peace while it lasts becuase once baby is kicking and sticking its elbow/feet in your ribs you'll definately feel it' ha ha!

I didn't really have any flutters at all but at 18+5 started getting kicks and not just cute little baby kicks either - proper strong kicks.

Been getting stronger ever since and at about 20 weeks you could actually see my tummy moving with all her kicking.

It can be quite uncomfortable when baby does it for long period of time or if I have a full bladder but at least I can't forget I'm pregnant!!!
