Pregnancy

Nearly 32 weeks & baby transverse

Like the title says I am just under 32 weeks pregnant & my baby boy is in the transverse position as found by scan a few days ago. This is my 2nd child (5th pregnancy). My daughter was breech so I had a planned c-section with her 7 years ago, now this time my consultant is getting 'excited' by this baby not being head down as yet. Any other mums out there been in similar situation? Did baby turn or stay transverse? I was planning attempting a vbac but it's slowly starting to look like I will be needing another c-section. Is it possible my pelvis won't allow babies to get into head down position to allow a natural birth? Starting to panic now as transverse worse than breech as cord could come 1st if my waters go. Sorry for rambling on but if you did have a transverse baby when did they perform c-section, was it early or near your due date? Thank you for taking the time to read this & reply Smile x

I've just found out the same at nearly 32 weeks. I thought they'd have plenty of time to move, but my OBGYN is also getting "excited".
She's given me a couple of exercises to do, and I'm thinking of finding a moxibustion practitioner to try and move baby, but no idea how to go about this.
I gave birth to my first vaginally and I'd really like to avoid a CS this time too.

I had a transverse lie for pretty much all of my first DD's pregnancy. She turned all by herself at around 37/38 weeks.

I spent a lot of time on my exercise ball either sitting or leaning over it.

Have you googled spinning babies? Maybe worth a shot.

Oh and getting on your hands and knees is good for turning babies too

Try not to worry. I'm 33 weeks tomorrow and I can feel that baby is transverse. He does move around a bit and change position, and has been in head down and also breech position in last few weeks, but I think transverse is his favourite as he has been in this position most of this week. I spoke to midwife who said they don't worry what position baby is in until 36 weeks.

Thank you all for your replies. I have not looked on spinning babies yet so will have a look on there. My consultant didn't mention anything about me doing exercises or anything to try & get the baby to turn so god knows. I think they have secretly decided I will be c-section again too. Although I do have another growth scan in 3 weeks so will see what they say then I guess. Can't believe nearing the end already though! Gone so fast lol.

I am nearly 33 weeks and pretty sure mine is transverse too. Reassuring he still has time to wiggle himself the right way up! What's the deal with the exercise ball? I have one!

My son was transverse/oblique but my hip was clicking. I went to the osteopath who clicked it into place, and the baby moved head down. Worth a go?

My hip has been fine, no clicking so I don't think it's that. I too have more water than average but not loads so maybe that's why but he has been transverse pretty much my entire pregnancy & given history of daughter not going head down I just think there's something stopping them from doing so. I know still got time so hopefully by 36/37 weeks he will have stopped being so stubborn lol

My DD was transverse and stayed transverse. I was booked for an ELCS at 39+3 but my waters broke at 38+3 so I called the doctor, went in and had a CS that morning.

I do think you have a lot of time for hthe baby to turn still so don't worry but maybe try to come to terms with the possibility of a CS because if he/she stays transverse anything else is quite risky.

Hi, watching with interest. I'm 31+2 with my first dc but 3rd pregnancy. Mine is transverse too. I've been told they will decide at 36 weeks if they will do a c section but I'm not sure if it's for that reason or other reasons. Either way I am preparing myself for it but not sure if I should try getting her to move anyway.
