sudden increased fetal movements at 29 weeks

Hi

Should I be worried? Baby seems to be training for the Commonwealth in there today, whereas before I had noticeable movements only about 2-3 times a day. I had a mw appt tomorrow morning, just wondering if anyone else had experience this though.

Kicks peaked at about 27-29 weeks for me. Before that, kicks had been very gentle. I'm 32 weeks now and fewer kicks, more just a feeling of movement that is strong, and thankfully not too many kicks as they're starting to make me jump as they are powerful!
I think at 29 weeks you should be feeling a lot more than 2-3 movements a day, so I wouldn't worry.

Thanks for your reply. It just felt odd that the increased movement has been so sudden, not a gradual increase. Anyway they monitored baby today and all is fine :) but if the baby carries in this way I'm going to be shattered before it's even born!

any change in babies movement, loss of movement or increase need proper investating propbably hooking you up to a ctg to check all is well in there

when you say they monitored the baby today what do you mean a hand held Doppler?

I would think "they" would be HCP? Not a home doppler?

OP: check with your midwife after 28 weeks, if/when you feel any sudden change.

I remember for me (and I did check with my MW) the change from gentle prods to stronger movements shocked me. Also the fact sometimes you see them and they feel mild, sometimes the feel hefty and you don't see them! Weird.

Basically ring the MW at the hospital, they can check you if you're worried.

I didn't think op had a home Doppler.??!!

I thought perhaps shes not been checked over properly

perhaps shes only had the mw stick the Doppler on for a few mins

Thanks all for your replies :)

My mw appt today happened to be at the hospital so they sent me to the day unit and I had a ctg for half an hour. They said it was all fine thankfully. They also asked 2 consultants who said increased movements aren't a problem. However I tend to agree with bbqsteak and I will still speak to a mw if I experience a change movement again whichever way it goes. It was so sudden and I didn't experience that with my other 2 dcs.

Baby has still been overactive today and is tiring me out! But it seems to be less manic today then yday so hopefully is calming down!
