Fat feet!

Hi! I'm nearly 36 weeks and my feet are getting pretty swollen every day. I know this is normal and most of you are probably going thru the same. But does anyone have one foot more swollen than the other? My right is noticeably more swollen right up to my knee. Some sites say it could be pre-eclampsia or dvt but I'm getting no other symptoms. I have a desk job but make sure I get up regularly (no choice when baby is sitting on my bladder)! I drink plenty of water and drag DH out for a walk round the block every evening. Should I get in touch with the midwife anyway?

Yes! 37+5 here and my feet started swelling at 36 wks too. My right one is def more swollen but the left one is also puffy. Annoyingly my right foot is also bigger anyway so I have one very tight foot in shoes....my hands are a bit swollen too and also a bit lopsided. I've never heard it being a sign of anything, I'm certainly not worried at all.

If anything's concerning you at this stage, get in touch with your mw. I had mild pre-eclampsia, with massive swollen feet (legs, face...everywhere) but it wasn't helped last summer with the heat. It is likely to just be the heat, but definitely worth getting checked out. They'll check your blood pressure and give you a once over Smile

I agree with wetdog - I should have said that my BP is so low I'm barely alive and has been throughout the pregnancy so there's no concerns about pre-eclampsia for me. Mine coincided with the mild heatwave we're having up here in Scotland as well.

Definitely get it checked if one is more swollen than the other!

I had this in my last pregnancy. In my case, iI already knew that I have slightly worse circulation in one leg so when it started swelling, it was very noticeable but when back to normal after the birth. Elevate your legs, try and put them in a shallow cold bath. I read Epsom salts were great but didn't try myself.
