Lovely things that partners do

Yesterday my partner and I had a fall out (I am off sick post eye surgery, have psd and bad acid reflux plus the heat, all stopping me sleeping or functioning properly - as a result he feels taken for granted etc etc and I need to get off my bum and help him)

I cried a lot, he cried (never happens!) and so I did my best to be better in the evening. Last night I barely slept again.

He left me to sleep (he works at home) and disappeared out to the shops and returned with a fan. Oh my god it is amazing.

I feel so lucky to have someone who is so strung out and fed up and yet STILL thinks of me. I literally don't know how to thank him.

Thought I'd share something nice! What sweet things have your OHs done?

As unromantic as it sounds, my hubby will not let me carry any bags - Last night we went to the supermarket and in a bag I had a 2L bottle of pop and some garlic bread and in another 2 x 2L bottles of pop. Wouldnt let me carry the first bag even though I could happily manage. He also goes nuts if I stand on a chair to reach something off a shelf and I often come home when he has a day off and the whole house has been tidied. Even though he has quite a tiring physical job.

I couldn't ask for a sweeter and more supportive husband - definitely with mrsnlw on the little considerate things really mattering and sounds like Firsttimer has a good catch, too! We are very lucky #smugface

Mine rubs my calves for me every night before I go to sleep. I work on my feet so it's soooo appreciated

Mine is quite up and down. I relate so well to the OP!

I needed to wash my feet the other night and he did it for me which was really lovely and fun too!

Mine basically does most of the cleaning/gardening at the moment, which is very much appreciated! He will also cook if I'm overhot which is great, so long as it's pizza, salad, pasta and sauce, something freezer-to-oven (he isn't a masterchef but who cares, chicken kiev and chips hits the spot when you're whale like and starving).

He also goes up to my belly, pats it and says' "move!" and the baby does. This is really helpful because I suffer from anxiety after losses. But also he finds it hilarious to see the little foot/hand print

This morning DH held onto my massive belly while I rolled over and then helped me out of bed. He has to sleep in the spare room now as I'm so hot but he comes through in the morning when I shout him for a cuddle and to heave me out of bed. He also is one for never letting me carry (sadly I have to when he's not here!) he's good at buying me all the weird foods I want and looking for 'pregnant lady treats', mainly non or exceptionally low alcohol drinks! So I've had some 2% alcohol cider and non alcoholic cocktails in this heat! Lovely.

My DH has always been the chef in our household which I've always been grateful for. But in this pregnancy, I've constantly struggled to know what to eat, everything seems a bit meh and eating is normally my most favourite thing! So every night for the past 22 weeks, he's said "what would you like for tea" and my responses have ranged from snapping "whatever, I don't care" to full on emotional break downs because I've lost interest in food and I'm making life so difficult for him! But he's so calm and reasonable and always manages to pull something together that I can enjoy, even if it means extra trips to the takeway shops. He's an angel!

I came home to some lovely flowers as I'd been down for a few days and he wanted to cheer me up Smile
He's not brilliant all of the time but every now and then he can be!

I complained to DH last week that I was really hot and uncomfortable and on the way home from work he went to the shops to buy things like ice cream and ice cubes and then when he got in he made me an ice-cold foot soak which was lovely. Smile I do wish now that I'm over 32 weeks though that he would really get on with finishing the nursery though which I've been nagging him to do for months.

I do feel very lucky too - DH is a star! We were driving back from France a couple of weeks ago and he was giving me a foot rub. The next day he sat me down, gave me a footbath and filed and moisturised my feet cos he'd thought they felt a bit rough! And last night he went out at 10pm to get me some ice cream Grin

These stories are CUTE.

mine just makes me laugh and brightens my day plus he suggests things he knows will cheer me up. It's so easy to get stuck in a rut of feeling down when you're hot and uncomfortable.

Its Ramadan at the moment and I'm always so grateful in this month that DH is aware of making sure I get enough rest by taking the kids for a couple of hours each day, even though he's busy and tired himself. He also comes home with lovely treats every day for us to eat at night.

Yep its a big fast today 27th fast and dh was out last night the mosque till late. When he got back in I was asleep (doesnt normally happen as I cant fall asleep without him) and he'd got up for fast and made his meal and ate it quietly so I wasn't disturbed. He got into bed without waking me too. After a while I shot up thinking I was late in getting his food cooked and he said he'd already ate, dont worry and go back to sleep.
In the morning he gave ds his bottle and somw fruit while I slept. He had to go straight to work at8 and only woke me before going for his kiss (on the cheek for now lol)
was very nice to have had a lie in after so long.
also hes the cook of the house and will ask what I want to eat. He cooks a lot of food despite working full time and me being a sahm.
Past few nights hes said 'do you want another one of them things you've been craving'
I've discovered a spicy burger at a take away 20mins away. I co

Just posted this on another thread too, my lovely DH has taken to checking if he can make himself buttered toast as for the past several weeks the smell has made me feel ill. He's also been doing all our puppy's eye drops and medication (allergies) so I don't have to touch them.

Love this thread! My DH kisses my belly at random surprising moments and won't let me carry anything. He even came to meet me at the grocery store straight from work so I wouldn't have to carry the bags. Smile

DP does most of the childcare, including any disturbed nights. He often lets me stay in bed when he gets up with the toddler and sneaks me a breakfast in bed so I'm fed properly (toddler tends to steal my food).

He tells me I look amazing pregnant and whenever I get guilty about not doing enough he reminds me I have a hard job and am growing a whole new person.

He's lovely.

Mine bought me a washing up bowl and made me a foot soak it was heaven. He's picked me up every single day from the station even though he hates losing his parking spot (when not pregnant this requires begging all day). He stocked our freezer with blue ice pops when he spotted them in our local shop (they usually sell out first!). He's just generally getting me through this whole pregnancy I wouldn't have been able to do it without him, literally!

DH has done most of the cooking this week as I've been too hot. He has had a few days off this week do has completed lots of odd jobs around the house ready for house to go up for sale. The heat has been wiping me out after work this week. So have come home to a bag of treats from Lush and a photo frame for the scan photo. Best of all he is keeping the fridge stocked with Mars bars. It's definitely the little things that make the difference, mine has brought me a water bottle today, that you fill with tap water, and the lid has a filter inside, making fresh, clean tasting water. This is amazing to me, because I'm struggling to find anything that thirst quenching, and spending a fortune on bottles of water!!

He also surprised me by buying me some new shoes to support my fat ankles! Hahaha

They do need reminding how wonderful they are, it must be so hard for them to see us suffer! Tonight I've made him his favourite food, and dessert (trifle) it's vile, but he loves it!
