Brown spotting after bowel movement, anyone?(tmi)

I'm 8 weeks pregnant with number 3 and on about three occasions now I've had some light brown spotting after a bowel movement. I've been pretty constipated so it's quite an....effort...to get things moving so I'm wondering if straining could be the cause. No cramping or anything.

I'm just wondering if anyone else has experienced this as it's new to me and not sure how much to worry about it!

Light brown is usually nothing to worry about. I had it after sex earlier this month. It's just your cervix being irritated. When you're constipated your bowel can press against your cervix and it becomes irritated causing a slight bleed.

Unless it's heavy or becomes bright red I wouldn't worry too much.

I've had 3 miscarriages so I am being as realistic as possible!

Thanks for your reply. I did wonder if it was something like that as I've had problems before with spotting after sex when I was on the pill. Hoping the lack of pain and the fact it only happens after a bm is a good sign. Still so hard not to worry though!

Oh yea it's impossible not to worry! But if it's after putting some, erm, strain, down there then it's probably nothing. If it's just random spotting and becomes heavier then speak to your gp x

Good I'm glad yours stopped. It took me a while to work out it was related to toilet issues too, I guess it would be more worrying if it was starting with no reason. Drinking a gallon of water today to see if it'll uh..help things along. Gosh I had forgotten how grim early pregnancy is!
Thanks for your replies.
