Headaches during early pregnancy???

I know that I'm going to sound like a hypercondriac(sp) now but I've been getting a lot of headaches during this pregnancy.

I make sure that I eat enough for it not to be a lack of cals and I drink 3 bottles of water a day so I don't think that it is dehydration. Also at night I have a really dry mouth.

I'm 8+4 today with no2 and didn't have anything like this with my dd. I am worried that if I bother the doctor with this she is just going to think that I'm wasting her time.

Did/has anyone else had this in any pregnancy if so what was it and what can I do (short of taking paracetamol) to help prevent it?

This is very common and is linked to the 'hormone rush' of pregnancy. Try getting a 'coolstrip' from Boots. It is an cold pack you can put on your forehead. Don't be afraid to take paracetamol - sometimes the headache gets worse because it has been allowed to linger.

I had them with ds instead of MS. It was terrible. I basically spent a lot of time in bed until it passed. It wouldn't hurt to check your BP, but I really feel like it's just a pg thing. FWIW, mine only lasted a week or two.

I had really bad headaches thorughout first and most of second trimester. Gp said it was just pregnancy related.
I didnt want to take paracetomol either but if theyre bad then you should. I bought those gel filled cooling strips from the chemist cant remember what theyre called but theyre excellent!

Thanks might have to invest in some of those cool gel strips then too.

What about the dry mouth thing. It's like no matter how much I drink I can't seem to quench my thirst, particularily at night.

Do you think that it would be worth me going to the docs just to get a bp test?

I kind of regretted even typing the BP thing as soon as I posted. It's usually only an issue later on in pg and I really wouldn't worry particularly. If you're in a pharmacy or whatever that have those free cuff things you might check it, but it really is just one of those early pg side effects.

Hi. I got this a lot during my second pregnancy but not at all during the first. Odd. I was waking at night and used to eat a banana whenever I woke which seemed to help. I reasoned I was running out of food overnight and therefore getting headaches.

I don't think there can ever be anything wrong with going to the doctor if you're worried. But in the mean time try taking paracetamol and eating and drinking overnight and see if that helps.

Don't regret typing BP I have had BP problems since I was about 8 weeks pregnant, headaches were one of the symptoms. Unusual but not impossible. I had loads of other symptoms so don't panic bubblez

Thanks, lucy5, I should have remembered that yours started that early. I just worry that sometimes my tendency to be overly cautious will cause more harm than good. But, you're right. I should continue to go with my instincts because it's better to be safe, especially with pregnancy.

I had this at the beginning, it is awful so you have my sympathies.

Firstly like everyone else, i recommend 4head stick and strips, you can get them from boots.

I eventually went to see a homeopath (i am the biggest cynic (sp?) about that type of thing, but i was so desperate i would have gone to see a monkey in a zoo if someone had told me to. Anyway, she gave me something and they went literally overnight, came back a few weeks later, took another dose of her pills and they went never to return. Was money well spent in my opinion. Worth considering.

Wish you better!
