How did you announce your pregnancy?

With DS, I had my 12 week scan the beginning of May around the same time it was my mum's, Niece's, dad's and sister's birthdays. So I bought happy birthday Nana/Cousin/Grandad/Aunty cards, glued in a copy of the scan picture and signed them from Baby 34. I just told other family and friends in person.

Just found out DC2 is on the way and wanted some more inspiration. Got a bit of time to go yet but my favourite idea so far is to get DS a T-shirt printed with "big brother in training, promotion due Oct 2014", get him to wear it and see who notices!
How did/will you announce yours?

I tested positive the day before Mothering Sunday. We took my parents out to lunch at a garden centre and they were teasing us about the gooseberry bushes. So, I bought one and took it round a couple of days later.

My Gran's birthday was when I was 12+1 (hadn't had the scan yet) so I bought her a photo frame with a teddy on and a Happy Birthday Great Gran card

Everyone else I waited till they asked how I was then said "I'm fine but morning sickness sucks" and waited for the penny to drop :o

I just told people. I'm a very straightforward person.

I offered mum a glass of wine when she came over, and then actually said you may as well take the bottle home, as I'm not drinking at the moment. I could see from the look on her face that she was trying to work out why (as I love a glass of wine), and then I told her and my dad that they would hopefully be grandparents in Sept.

I met my parents for a cup of tea while I was at work and said "I've got something to tell you, I've been meaning to tell you for a while but I didn't know how". They thought I had a terrible illness Blush.

By the time I got to dc3 it was a text.

I didn't have to tell anybody. Everyone guessed when they noticed I wasn't drinking.

Or smoking. I am always transparently pregnant it seems!

My best friend lent me a fertility angel to put under my pillow....

I have it back to her one morning and said 'I don't need this now!'

I was 12 weeks at Mothering Sunday so put the scan pic in mums card.

We were also going to Florida with friends just as I'd found out so when we arrived and ordered a beer, I said mine will have to be non alcoholic and apologised to their teens that I wouldn't be going on the hulking great rides!

I loved seeing peoples faces!

I didn't tell anybody second time round. Just waited until they noticed. Most people had caught on by the time ds was here.

I'll be telling my parents this weekend. I'll just tell them. Mr euro will tell his. Other than that, I won't be making any announcements. People will figure it out at some point.

I just told the people who needed to know - family, best mates, colleagues - after the 12 week scan. I'm too superstitious to make an announcement.

I made the mistake of telling DC1 (aged 3) very early on and he told EVERYONE Grin
With hindsight of have kept it to family and close friend for a bit longer.

We paid for an early scan at 8 weeks and got a DVD of the scan (although it was literally a tiny pea floating around!) We then went over to my parents after with the disc and put it on the TV and said we had something to show them. The video started and with both my mum and dad in the medical field, they were like...ok...its an ultrasound. Then went very quiet for what seemed like an age and my Dad turned to me and said "is it your ultrasound?" They were both shocked but very pleased. They thought we were going to show them a funny video we had seen on the internet!

I told very close F&F and my HR manager early (high risk pregnancy after 3 MCs). Sadly it's not the same when in the back of everyone's mind they know I'm telling them in case I vanish off to hospital for a few days. :(

Looking forward to the day (fx it will be this time round) when I can boldly tell all and sundry/thrust out my bump. :)

I'm more worried about telling people myself and not having them find out through someone else...or on facebook... Telling my parents in person then in-laws on Skype probably. Then it'll be a lot of phoning and emailing!

I had every intention of keeping it quite till 12 week scan. I new I would tell my mum straight away. I did this by shoving the positive digital pregnancy test in her face, she thought it was a facial hair trimmer lol.

By 10 weeks I just gradually told every one, some in pure excitement lol

Looked like a Cheshire Cat Grin

I hate telling people. Actually hate it. So I tend to just slip it into a phone conversation, then hang up very shortly afterwards. Then stick a scan pic on Facebook at twelve weeks and hide.

I kinda like your tshirt idea OP Grin

A friend of mine recently posted a picture of her daughter next to the fridge with "I'm going to be a big sister!" Written in fridge magnets Smile
It was nice!

Afraid am a worrier and don't like to announce a baby until am holding it in my arms (sadly a lot of close experience of MC and still birth). I quietly told close family after 12 week scan, friends and manager after about 4 months & just let everyone else find out naturally. Good luck!
