fed up and just want the baby out, how long did you feel period like pains before the labour started? I did acupuncture, reflexology and no sign yet...
I had so many troubles with morning sickness and acid reflux in pregnancy, that I just can't bear the thought of being overdue .... I want to eat and being able to move again ... Plus stupid weather does not really help with long walks which help labour

Aw hon! It wont be long now. Try rubbing into your belly some sage oil diluted in a carrier oil like sesame, olive, or sunflower. Eat some pineaple, and put your feet up. Is it your first?

Good luck hon xx

Well, you are doing better than me....39+3 and no sign whatsoever, no cramps, nada. The cramps are a good sign, hopefully you will start soon! I thought I might be a bit earlier this time as this is DC3. I had cramps for 2 weeks before my last baby....I really hope that doesn't mean a long wait for this one! If anyone else tells me to enjoy the last few baby free days, I shall punch them Grin

I've also got through a whole bottle of clary sage essential oil in the burner over the last week too. Had a Tesco delivery this morning, and the driver recommended 1) curry 2) pineapple 3) sex, worked for his wife apparently (TMI!!!!!!) Everyone has an opinion at this stage, I just wish they would keep it to themselves!

BTW Happy, don't worry about a closed cervix, my midwife said even if the cervix is soft and pointing forward, and 2cm dilated, women can go round for weeks like that before labour starts!!!! Seems there is no way of predicting, we've just gotta wait it out Confused

Any progress Happychick? It's my due date today, trying to stay upbeat!!!! Started with very mild period-type niggles on Friday, but nothing happening really. Hope you're having more luck!

Hi all, mind if I join the thread? I am 40+3 today and am really feeling fed up too. Up until a week or so ago I was having braxton hicks frequently and they were sometimes getting quite intense (had to stand up, walk around etc). Anyway, haven't really has any for about a week or so now, maybe just the odd really light one that I've barely noticed.

Had sweep or attempted sweep on thurs which was my dd, mw said I'm barely fingertip dilated Sad another doctor couldn't even attempt sweep cos he said my cervix was still too far back Confused. I don't feel any signs or symptoms now. I'm so disheartened as I really want to go to the midwife led birth unit but you can't if you are induced which I really feel is a possibility right now.

comfyonesie2 · 09/02/2014 15:25

Gah! It so frustrating isn't it?! Try not to think about induction yet Madallie, you've still got plenty of time. I was determined to be relaxed and laid back about the due date, but I am so impatient now.

I know people mean well, but I can't stand anymore of "no baby yet?" at the school gates. I've done everything I can to encourage labour to start, but I guess the baby will come when it's good and ready and not before! Have a MW appt on Tuesday - when she booked it 2 weeks ago I was really hoping I wouldn't make it, but looks like the baby has other ideas. I'm not going to have a sweep, too depressing if they say the cervix can't be reached, I'd rather not know!

You're probably right about not getting a sweep. It was so disheartening to find out about cervix and tbh has just made me anxious. Have a mw app on Thursday where I'll be 40+1. Not sure if I'll have another sweep or not yet.

Madallie welcome to the club, it is so annoying to sit and wait and nothing you can do really. See how you feel about sweep, quite a few women told me it got them going. It just you so fed up by now and just want to meet your baby!! I have appointment tomorrow, trying not to think about it.

Are you going to have a sweep tomorrow Happychick? Hope it gets things moving if you are.

I was a bit cheered up tonight by going out for supper - my 2 DSs thought it was funny that we were going out on the baby's birthday, but the baby hadn't showed up! At least we had a bit of laugh.

Hope things get moving for you Madallie before your appointment on Thursday.

I'm getting lots of movement tonight, but no encouraging signs really, no matter how hard I look for them!

Comfy glad you got cheered up yesterday! It is a bit funny that baby does not seem to be keen to have a birthday. I went and even though there is a small progress, still very tight and no possibility to do a sweep. Booo, like nothing can kick my baby out of a comfy home ... Hopefully you will be more lucky soon!

According to my NCT class, that is the first sign of labour.

Give baby a stern telling off, enough is enough ;)

What did they say was first sign of labour Snobble? Clutching at straws in case I've had that sign.

Update - my waters went at 02.15 last night. Went in to hospital to be monitored this morning, all fine with baby, but no contractions yet. Decided to come home in the hope things would start, but still nothing. Have to ring labour ward tomorrow at 8am to discuss induction if I don't start labour naturally. Gah! So so hope it starts soon. Was booked for a home birth, which looks very unlikely now.

Hope you are all doing well.
