Soft boiled eggs during pregnancy

I love eggs and I've done loads of research. Apparently eggs with the lion stamp have never tested positive for salmonella.
Also, I've never heard of anyone catching salmonella from eggs, more recently it's been bean sprouts, lettuce and cucumber.
I kind of think this is just a hangover from when salmonella was present in eggs years ago.

Am I being a dick if I risk it? After all I'm not a midwife... Does anyone else have other thoughts?

I'm planning on risking it myself....

I'm 23 weeks and I really, really, really miss having runny eggs and soldiers!!

I'm sure they're fine if they're lion stamped. That's what I went with when I was pregnant.

I agree. If you look at the advice and the info it really means you shouldn't eat soft/runny eggs from your own chickens but lion stamped eggs are vaccinated for salmonella so should be safe.

I waited until around 16weeks to have an egg (I think in the 1st trimester if I had lost the baby I'd have always thought was it because x y ... So lived v v clean!) but now I have fresh lion stamped eggs safe in the knowledge that the protein etc is good for baby.

In terms of risks I think it is all relative. Statistically by far the most dangerous thing I do with my bump/baby is drive to work, cross a busy road or even have a shower (most accidents in the home happen in the bathroom) but no one tells you not to do those things. It is easy to make a list of things not to eat so they do.

As for being a dick....only you can make the decision. Don't feel pressured either way - do what you feel is right. .

I have a rule with food thats on the slightly risky end... Only if its been cooked at home by me or someone close will I have it. Like I wont have the salad from harvester because i dont know how long its been out/ whos touched it etc. but i'll have it at home because I washed it and i KNOW its safe.

As long as you know its been cooked enough for your satisfaction then thats the main thing...

Lion stamped runny eggs at home for me! As you said there is no salmonella!

I've been eating them. There's almost zero risk that you'll get salmonella, and even if you do it doesn't effect the baby.

Totally going to continue eating eggs!

I think bagged salad in the supermarket is far greater risk! I ate soft lion stamped eggs throughout my pg and happily give them to DD to eat.

Lion stamped are vaccinated and fine. So yes to soft boiled eggs cooked at home from lion stamped eggs for me. No to in other places or from the neighbours' hens.

I do re-wash bagged salad though. It's one of the very few pregnancy food rules I follow. Along with liver.

Just seen this posted on BBC. Apparently salad and rice are far worse!

Yup, pre bagged salad is notorious in the food industry for food poisoning, for the reasons the article explains. People think I'm a weirdo that I don't like eating that but will happily tuck into egg!

Been eating eggs and soldiers for breakfast since I've been able to stomach food again since 18 weeks; I'm fine and so is baby Smile just make sure the white is cooked and not snotty (sorry for the terminology!!!)

I've always eaten runny eggs for that reason - lion mark! I'd be more wary in other countries. I have to say I agree that other foods especially bagged salads etc are more risky, and even then it's a tiny risk.
