People just love to make up their own personal theories. Mostly it is nonsense.

Are boys heavier than girls? I had one boy at 6lb 10oz and another at 9lb so pretty different. Second children are often heavier but I see yours weren't so who knows whether your DS will be.

When expecting the 9lb boy, people used to tell me I was small and I would probably have another dinky one. One old lady swore blind I was having a tiny girl.

On the other hand I was 10 6oz and my younger brother was 9lb 12oz so where is the 'boys are heavier' or second children are heavier there?!

He will be what he will be. I think you are going to have to let it wash over you and just try and avoid getting into weight conversations. Easier said than done I know!!

Generally yes boys are bigger than girls ans subsequent babies tend to get bigger.

I wouldn't worry about it, I and small bump and still and big babies of 9lb+ and ds4 was 10lb 13oz, people are always shocked/horrified by his size especially when I say I ahdhik normally in birthing pool, no stitches necessary.

My no 5 is a girl and seemed positively tiny at 8lb :)

thanks big i just keep replying he will weigh what ever hes ment to never shuts them up though i dont know why ppl feel the need to annoy me with it i think bump size is unpredicatable indicator of babys size you never truely know till their here i thought my firsy daughter at 8.5 was big so goodness knows what to expect if it where true about boys lol

yeah so i heard but my second was smaller then my first lol i think the whole baby weight thing is based on alot of old wives tales i know he will weigh what he will weigh and it dont bother me that he might be big i just want a healthy baby simples lol and wow well done you you sound like you had great births :) xx

Its a massive generation to say boys are bigger then girls. Im on no6 & in my experience its about 50/50.

My 3rd dc was my smallest.

My 4th dc was my biggest.

The mother's health, diet & lifestyle are more relevant factors then the position within family.

My boys have been bigger and not by much, biggest was 8lb3 but also I was 2 week over with both.
my mum had 3 boys and me I was the biggest at 8lb 1 so it's a load of rubbish, Iv shown early with all but my first n iv heard same thing every time iv been pg, I think it's just small talk. X

Honestly, I think having a big baby is great. My 9lb+ dd is robust and strong, and other big babies I know generally seem very content.

I would choose to see it as a good thing and take it as a compliment!

I don't understand why people make it out like having a big baby is somewhat a bad thing. A healthy baby is all I want, whether they are 7lbs or 9lbs.

Like mentioned already, people like to give their unwanted opinions. Apparently pregnancy is a time where everyone has something to say about our bodies etc.

If it helps, I am very small. Like smaller than a UK6 when not PG. My NCT teacher predicted a 6lb baby for me. DD was early and well over 8lbs already. My bump was literally all her and very little water.

Now PG with DC2 and this one is apparently already on the 80th percentile for size. I don't have gestational diabetes or anything - I must just grow big babies, despite being a tiny dot of a woman otherwise.

You never can tell, though I agree the inane comments are annoying!

My 4 DC were all within 4 of ounces of each other, with the heaviest being 9lb exactly.. I have no idea why but I am strangly proud of it I like the consistency of it

People talk a lot of shite to you when you are pregnant....and when you have a young baby....and when you have a toddler. Etc ETC.

Dd was 10lb 11oz, and I thought second babies were usually bigger, so braced myself for a giant. Ds was 9lb 2. I thought he was tiny.

Can i just mention that regardless of the weight, the head circumference of the average full term baby is more or less the same..so 6lbs or 10lbs makes little difference.

My 10lb 13oz baby had 42cm head circumference off the top of the charts, my smallest was 38cm, my babies have big heads...courtesy of their father
