Am preg with 2nd son and went today to a breastfeeding wprkshop to refresh.
As I am not due to see my midwife till next month, I got the midwife who took the class to measure my tummy as Ihave been feeling absolutely huge lately.
She confirmed my suspicions were corect and I am measuring up as 32 weeks.
She said I need to contact my midwife to get referred to the consultant and for a scan.
Anyone else had this? I'm petrified! Ds was 9lb9.5 at birth.

Fundalheight=load of c**p!
It depends on number of pregnancies,height of mother,abdominal fat on mother,position of baby,amount of fluid,size of previous babies,and also depends on the midwife/gp doing the measuring each time.
I'm amazed they still bother doing it all tbh.
Please don't worry,but by all means get a scan to put your mind at rest.
Health workers and their damn charts!!!

i had this as well. it was discovered at a midwife appointment at 24 weeks and she got me all worked up - i burst into tears when i left the clinic. I continued to measure 4 cm / weeks more than 'normal' until i got to 36 weeks and then i remained the same size until ds was born at 38+2. Having been told i was having a big baby, and having people comment on the size of my bump for months, i gave birth to a 6lb 11oz baby. Don't know what all the fuss was about.

Pretty much the same as Ja9. I measured 3/4cm bigger and for most of the third trimester. MW said baby would be big, had extra scan etc, etc... DS born on time weighing 7lbs 2oz.

I was all bump too so it wasn't maternal fat or anything. Just a normal pregnancy with a slightly bigger bump. Try not to worry. Hopefully the scan will put your mind at rest. Smile

I measured big with my 3rd and she was 8lb when I was induced at 38 weeks (for other reasons).

My GP sid bump measurements can go - or + 4 cms on the week of pregnacny so by his reckoning you would be fine 28=4 =32 try not to worry

Fundal height is only a vague guide. You normally need to have been consistently measuring way ahead across a number of appointments before they worry about referring you for a scan as it can be affected by how the baby is lying. So (cookiemummy) your midwife is quite right. if you are still measuring four weeks ahead at 32 weeks she'll probably refer you for a scan around 35 weeks.
