Can you use fungal nail treatment while pg?

Someone told me I couldn't but I'm fed up with ugly feet & desperate to get rid. Would they normally give you antibiotics at the docs? Or is the over the counter stuff the only option? I've had it for ages as either been pregnant or bf. Any tips gratefully welcomed.

Before I tried to conceive DC1 I used the tablets to get rid of it, but dr told me not to conceive, so that's defo not safe. I think you can use the paint on solution stuff, but please don't take my word for that and check with you dr.hope you find something that works!

I was advised not to use the paint etc while pregnant or breastfeeding I'm afraid. I am hiding my nails under varnish but long for nice feet too
(although given the size of them in the heat that looks unlikely! )

No, I had to put up with a fungal nail infection until I'd finished bfing. Done people on here swear by using Vicks to get rid of a fungal nail infection. Haven't tried it myself.

Would you go and get a pedicure if you had a nail fungus? I am pregnant and hiding a dodgy nail under nail varnish and am worried about when I can't reach my feet any more!

Went to see a chiropodist a couple of weeks ago to have my nails sorted and she said fungal treatments cannot be used in pg and bf. She did suggest clipping and nail, filing it and then applying a bit of teatree oil so it seeps through. Not as effective as the cream but its a start.

Vicks works!!! I had a horrible fungal nail infection from when I was 17 (I'm in my 40s now). Just a few weeks of applying Vicks a few times a day, and it's gone!

I had been taking the tablets (terbinafin) from July 2009 until I discovered I was pregnant December 2012. The nail infection does take a long time to grow out and luckily mine is pretty much gone now apart from on one small nail. I saw a dermatologist who recommended weekly treatment with the tablets which is why I could take them for so long.

When I discovered I was pregnant my gynaecologist told me not to take the tablets any more.

As for when you can't reach I have had my husband do mine for me and he did a pretty good job. I would really rather people didn't go for pedicures and to swimming pools with nails like that as I am convinced this is how I caught the wretched thing in the first place. I guess if you had all your own pedicure equipment it would be ok but to be honest I know they are supposed to sterilise the stuff they use but I don't trust them. Having a few years of minging feet (or rather 1 foot in my case) has put me off and I always tut when I see people with really bad nails going into a swimming pool, I always cover mine with tea tree and special sock, I'd never wish this awful thing on anyone and would really rather if anyone who has ever had it would do the same
