Dreams during pregnancy

I know it can be normal to have strange and vivid dreams during pregnancy but I thankfully haven't had a particularly bad time of it this pregnancy not that that makes up for 8 months of hyperemesis, threatened pre-term labour at 27 weeks or ten weeks of irritable uterus. However, I've just woken up from a nap and have to share...

I dreamt about having a huge go at MIL about how she treats DH and that I wouldn't be tolerating it any longer. So far, so cathartic. Then she sent hundreds of thousands of singing and dancing carrots to come and get us. The carrots normally lived underwater It was like a horrific episode of life and Octonauts all rolled in to one!

Ha ha! That's incredible! My DH has to sleep in the spare room because of all the dreams I've been having - am yet to deram up dancing carrots though.

Ps I bet if you tell MIL to eff off in real life she won't actually send any carrots to you ...

Haha... jollyb and *laura8 they are hilarious.

I was enjoying a fairly average dream, when the adverts came on, so naturally (sky + addict) I reached for the remote to fast forward, and woke my self up when I actually reached out and smacked dh in the face.

Still makes me chuckle

Oh god my dreams have been ridiculous!!!

I have woken up in floods of tears recently but can't remember what I have been dreaming about.

And the other night I dreamt that I had my baby and he was a normal baby apart from he had my DPs head!! Adult size and all!!! Was so creepy! (Since then have found out we are having a girl, phew!)

Ah pregnancy dreams, I remember them well.

I watched the Tudors whilst pregnant. After watching ~4 episodes back-to-back, I dreamt that I was Catherine of Aragon and my baby was stillborn. No one dared tell me so they substituted a very small 9 year old girl (I believe she had primordial dwarfism) and gave me her instead. I only figured it out when she started talking. I cried buckets Shock

I also dreamt my mum died, I woke DP at 5am after that one as I just couldn't calm down.

I dreamt I was the drummer for Busted - their actual drummer had decided to change to the cello. Unfortunately, two songs (as it turns out they were mcfly songs since apparently I don't know the difference) into a gig, I realised that a. I don't know how to play the drums, b. the drum kit wasn't put together properly and kept collapsing and c. The cymbals were in fact wooden frisbees. In light of the latter development I decided to play frisbee around the stage instead. Busted didn't mind too much but did have a quiet word with me after about how maybe drumming wasn't for me.

I'm a psychologist and can see no links to real life experiences/anxieties here. Just a big dollop of weird!!

I dreamt, rather disturbingly, that I had been recruited by senior management to help in a company restructure that essentially involved massacring 75% of the staff. Fortunately I woke up before the violent killing began, but the dream involved plotting where I would stand at the all-staff meeting with my machine gun so that no one would suspect anything. DH has suggested I perhaps don't tell anyone at work about this dream...

I dreamt last night that I was trying to lock the doors at the shop where I work at closing time but people kept barging on in and wouldn't leave and were forcing me to serve them. Then I finally managed to get them out and was locking the doors when this young lad with a toddler with him was trying to get in and he kept trying to grab at my necklace! Eventually I managed to lock him out but his toddler was left in the store and he just said "ahh you keep him" and walked off!!!

I had a dream that my mum managed to decapitate herself with her own arm during a game of football Confused . Her arm just took her head clean off. She then came back as a ghost, not to haunt us but to spend time with us, which was sweet but upsetting too.

Still, it's better than my last pregnancy where nearly every dream I had was both horrific and horny in equal measure. Never quite knew how to feel when I woke up!

I had a dream that DH gave birth to the baby while I was busy, and told me 'I know you were going to do it but you were busy'. In my dream I was really upset.

Always a fairly imaginative dreamer, I've had some corkers while pregnant. My worst though was last week - in my dream, I could see through the skin on my bump, and it looked like a lizard. It was thrashing around a lot and I eventually realised it was an alligator and that the tail was starting to poke out the side of my bump making the waters leak... Was in sheer panic that it would eat the baby or that it would harm it as all the waters started pouring out of my tummy.

Eventually I woke myself up in a whimpering panic.

In hindsight, I put this down to reading a status update on facebook from my very pregnant friend who was 38 weeks with twins at the time, saying that she could now see through the skin it was that stretched! That coupled with an unusually active spell of nocturnal activity from junior Shock

What I wouldn't give for dancing carrots Grin

I've been waking up in tears a LOT, and usually waking dh in the process. Lots of dreams about him leaving, or me not being able to find him, which I've never had before. Most recent one, from which I woke up apparently totally inconsolable, the only thing I remember was my mum shouting at me in a car park about how bad I was at swimming, and that I was really slow and being pregnant wasn't any excuse Hmm

In my dreams I keep losing all my teeth!! Such a relief to wake up and find them still in my mouth! Also keep having dreams about people I'm close to shouting at me and saying they never want to see me again!
