Anyone got any advice/ stories to put my mind at rest.
Although this is my 3rd baby, I never had spd and problems with a floating rib, or back to back etc..
my dd was 9lb 3
My ds was 10lb 2 both natural and ds was home water birth and was wonderful and relaxing
So... Just been for a growth scan as I was measuring 40 weeks at my 36 weeks appointment last Wednesday! Midwife booked me in to see a consultant at 38 weeks for possible induction due to large baby and sever spd! Currently brave and crutches.
Told baby is just over 8lb already and will almost certainly be over 10lb.
Also mentioned I have rather a lot of fluid and discussed risks of cord prolapse if waters break.
Doctor said its ideal to wait as long as possible to due date as fluids/water naturally decrease from 38 weeks to reduce the risk of prolapse cord.
On the other hand he suggested I have a membrane sweep next week as he believes its the most natural form of induction, as we both favour let it happen naturally.
He then went on to say that If she is as big or bigger than my ds then their are risks of shoulder distocia
Also she is back to back which he said is most unpleasant but could still turn round yet...
Basically wondering if anyone had had a big baby with spd/ back to back
Induction or natural...
Just getting a little worried/anxious and overwhelmed by all the information just now. I totally understand what will be will be, and I have to just get on with it, but can't help but crave the natural birth I had before with No intervention / complications.

FWIW - dc2 was estimated to be 6lb at 34 weeks, (I was horrified as dc1 was only 5lb 3oz born!) she arrived at 39+5 and was 7lb 1oz ... so your baby may not put on as much weight as you've been told.
I had SPD with dc4, labour was a breeze (lucky me!) and SPD didn't actually cause any problems with delivery.
I had a back to back labour with dc3 and I can honestly say it was the most horrific thing I've ever experienced! Dd only turned back to back when they broke my waters to induce me, so your dc may turn into a different position during labour.
I think we all get really anxious nearer the time (although I feel you have more reason than most!), our bodies are really good at getting us through labour.

P.S. I'm guessing you wouldn't consider a c-section?
Ds was big and back to back. He hurt like hell but I have nothing to compare it to as he was dc1. Natural birth, gas and air only. He took his time but we managed without intervention.
Dc2 is measuring big at 34wks I'm 37.5 weeks. No extra scans so no idea what's going to happen. Also on crutches with spd 
. I see consultant this week.

If they're talking possible shoulder dystocia then I imagine that would be grounds for a c-section given the size of baby/complications etc. I'd certainly mention it and discuss it with midwife/consultant.
At the same time, it could all end up fine, not a huge baby after all, maybe not even back to back come the time. I'd explore all options.
