Pregnancy

Anyone awake? 34 weeks and I'm pretty sure I'm having contractions.

They've been going on for nearly two hours. Started off about 10mins apart and for the past hour have been between 5 and 3 mins apart. Not very strong, but more painful than braxton hicks and takes my breath away.

What should I do? Wait it out until they get stronger or call midwife/maternity triage now?

You'd think by the second one I'd know what I'm doing!

Make that call. I hope it is just BH but better to get it checked out.

Call now - baby will most likely be fine but as they're a few weeks away from 'term' they'd rather know sooner rather than later

I'm 34 weeks too and have called/popped in with pains (been assessed and apparently they're muscular rather than contractions but they still bloody hurt!) and everytime they've said they'd rather see/hear from me at this gestation as soon as it gets sore rather than too late iyswim

Good luck, keep us updated if you can :)

I would not be unduly worried re 34 weeks but I think II would call straight away to see what they advise. Let us know how you get on!

Are they regular?
Do they hurt?
Are they gradually getting stronger?
Has your water broken?

If answer to the first 3 is yes, I'd call the hospital to let them know what's going on, & ask for advice.
If answer to the last one is yes, definitely call the hospital.
At the very least they can offer you support, recommend pain relief etc & tell you how long to wait before you should go in.

Not necessarily helpful, but I had BH every 2 hours for 3 weeks before I went into labour, they got gradually stronger & were a lot worse than the ones I'd had previously. I was convinced it was labour, then it just sort of turned into labour one day.

Hope you manage to hang on bit longer, but if not, keeping the hospital informed will be the best thing you can do. Good luck!

Thanks everyone. Am just about to call. I tried getting some sleep, but they're just getting stronger. I'll hopefully keep you posted.

Good luck, def best to get checked I had to go the other night as my bump was hurting and they found I may go into labour early so now have to go in with any contraction like pains but I'm only 27 weeks.
