bleeding at 6 weeks

Hiya, im about 6 weeks pregnant, I discovered i was pregnant after i had a seemingly normal period this month but then kept on cramping and feeling wierd, so did a test, i was confirmed pregnant by the doctor and ive had no bleeding since, but this morning i woke up with cramps which felt more like normal (light) period pains than what ive been experiencing so far and when i went to the loo i discovered some bleeding, its light and not constant, the colour is red but not really bright red i dont think(?), the cramps seem to have eased off now but the bleeding is still continuing on and off. I have a doctors appointment on friday anyway (its tues now), should i just wait till then and hope for the best? Could this be a miscarriage or would it be more severe? worried but trying not to panic!
Thanks xx

Im just 5 weeks pregnant with my second and am getting the same crampy feeling and am very aware (this might sound strangeHmm) of my ovaries :/ no bleeding but have read that this is normal in some people early doors. Easier said than done not to panic but until you hear from your doctor try to relax and stay positive! I really hope everything is ok...am sure it will be Smile

thanks so much for replying both of you! its made me feel better just to know there are other people out there going through the same thing, or been through it and it been fine (think i know what you mean poppysmum about being v aware of your ovaries) Doing lots of unecsesary jobs to take my mind off till time to go to the doctors. Trying to stay positive, feeling calmer now anyway, guess ill just have to accept that whatever happens my body knows best but fingers crossed its something and nothing xxx

My epu have been brilliant and answered an concerns I have had I had my first scan at 6 weeks and they did a internal scan and I saw a little bean with a heartbeat but please dont panic if there is no heartbeat as it starts around 6 weeks so I was lucky to see it! You will probably get in there and all these questions will come rolling out lol is this your first pregnancy? X

Is there an EPU nearby? Or does your doctor's surgery cover early pregnancy? In my experience it's better to bypass your GP and head straight for the experts.

I very much hope all is well for you. Frankly, cramping and early bleeding can be something or nothing so yes, don't panic and relax as much as you can (I know, I know, easy to say!)

H dobeedoo,

Try not to worry (easier said than done). I am now 17 weeks and had 2 bleeds with mild cramps early on. One at about 5.5 weeks and another at about 8 weeks.I had an early scan and they could see the yolk sac and heart beat at about 7 weeks, but then had to wait until 12 weeks to ensure everything was okay after the 2nd bleed.

Do ask for the early scan though as they dn't always offer it.

Fingers crossed for you. F

I bled at 6 weeks, was very scary, we were 100's of miles from home and released in a service station! My 13 month beautiful boy is now sound asleep in his cot! I was told my cervix was very tightly closed and that was good sign.

Fingers crosses all went well for you today. Scary things dont always mean the worse. xx

Fingers crossed for you. I had period like bleeds for the first three months roughly when my period would have been normally. It's very common. I hope yours is something similar. I had private scans as they do not do early scans before 8 weeks in my area

hiya everyone, thanks for all the support, unfortunately it did turn out i was miscarrying, i went to the doctors, who made me an appointment with the epu but not untill 2 days later, by then id bled pretty constantly so was expecting the worst, they did an abdominal scan and found nothing, as well as evidence that everything was returning to how it was pre pregnancy, the nurse did a urine sample too and it came back negative, they would have done internal scans and blood test had the test come back positive but they didnt need to :( . ive been pretty gutted, but im getting my head round it now and trying to think positively about the future. everyone has said how common and normal it is to miscarry so early, esp the first time, so i just need to give my body chance to get back to normal and have a period, then we can try again and fingers crossed it ll be successful next time. im very sad, esp as it i got pregnant weeks after losing our dog/baby substitute, but theres lots of hope! hopefully ill be back soon with better news xxx

Hi I thought I was 6 weeks 5 days pregnant but on Thursday I started cramping & getting brown staining which then turned to red blood. I have been bleeding since & still have bad back cramps & clenching down below( sorry if its too much info)
I had a scan on fri morning which looks like I'm only just over 5 weeks so have been give another appt for Friday, have to wait a whole 7 days:-(
They said there's a sac that looks as normal as it should but no baby but they wouldn't expect to see anything so early on. Has anyone else experienced these symptoms?
I have prepared myself for the worst as I know it doesn't look good at all, I also don't feel pregnant!
So sad as I miscarried last year but had no bleeding at all. I went for my 12 week scan & baby had stopped growing at 6 weeks x
