Sooooo...I just wet myself

Blush
I have just been sick and was mortified to find myself unable to hold in my wee whilst it happened!! Luckily I work from home so although there were people around I was able to sneak upstairs and get changed. I have been feeling like things were a bit 'delicate' when I sneeze or cough for about a week but didn't expect a full blown attack!

Thing is...I am only 14 weeks pregnant!! This is DC2 and I had no idea DD had done so much damage to my pelvic floor!! I did my exercises with the first and worked hard afterwards to try and get 'back into shape' so really wasn't expecting this! This didn't happen at all throughout my whole first pregnancy ok except one time but that was when I was in labour and painful contractions coupled with vomiting are a good excuse I am so dreading the next 6 months if I am going to wet myself the whole way through!

Time to get back on the pelvic floor exercises methinks but are they going to be good enough! Someone please reassure me this is normal with second DC and I will be able to regain control!!!

That happened to me around the same time and I'm pregnant with DC1! I have been working on my pelvic floor ever since and it didn't happen again (now 32 weeks!) :)

Phewwww that's reassuring so I just need to keep at it! Nothing worse when you have colleagues downstairs and you're frantically trying to change clothes and clean yourself up with DD following saying 'mummy wet!' 'Mummy wet there'. Not sure how many times I will get away with it Grin

It happened to me with first baby too lol, I thought it was a labour thing that made it weaker but obviously not as clearly I've never done it before at any point, it's always sneezing for me and I consciously have to clench but it went as soon as I had dd to normal again and is now come back now I'm pregnant again, I wouldn't worry I think it's because of the pressure in your bladder as opposed to permenant damage

You are definitely not alone Preposterous I'm 19 weeks with Dc2, and never normally have any problems. But I've had the worst cold ever leading to a really impressive cough, and that's been giving me some embarrassing moments.

I had, um, issues after my first so have had a fair bit of professional attention down there. I had a glowing report of strength of 4.5 out of 5 at my last check up, early in this pregnancy. When I vomit? Full release. It is really horrid, isn't it? But it's not permanent damage, I promise. At least, that's what I tell myself!

Tena lady.

Sorry, 41+5 here and needed a little reassurance in that area whenever I was sick or got a bad cold with sneezes and coughs. Kegels are all very well but sometimes baby is leaning on that bit too!

I wet myself at 8 weeks pregnant when I was sick (morning sickness, or all day sickness as it was) on Christmas Day at my Mum's house! I had to squeeze into one of her skirts for the rest of the day! It was very embarrassing and had no clue it was normal. I think it's the hormones acting on your pelvic floor so can happen even though the baby is small. It didn't happen again iirc.

At least you didn't do it in front of your 5 year old who then went to school and drew an impressively accurate picture and wrote an impressively clear, legible and detailed account of the incident in her news book...........

Seeker ah, the memories of kids! Blush

Yep, 13wks here and wetting myself all the time. Sneezing = little oops. Vomiting = standing in a puddle. I vomited into the bin yesterday and wee'd all over the sofa as I had just put my pyjamas on and had left my tena lady upstairs. DH was all Hmm as he scrubbed my wee out of the couch. Ds (2) was going: the sofa is wet. Did mummy wee wee?

Tena pads are your friend. Thankfully (!) I am off sick with hg at the moment, as I am a drama teacher and I don't fancy wetting myself in a class!
