Hi all. Is it normal to feel severe severe sickness atfull term? I am 2 days overdue and feel so so sick. I keep retching at the thought of things - like mould for example.
Last night i retched and there was just blood. It was bright bright red. Partner says itll just be my capilliaries in my throat? Or do you think I should worry?
Please be kind. Feeling very fragile and stressed.

Go to A+E.

Nobody can say what it is without looking at you, and I don't work with pregnant people especially, but in most people it's a sign thatneeds tto be checked out.

A+E will be able to see what's happening, hopefully give you something to stop the nausea and generally make sure you are okay.

All the best.

Not sure I would go straight to A&E but I would phone your GP/midwife/delivery suite now and see what they say. You might get a better check over in the maternity unit than A&E and if you call them they might invite you in.

It is probably tears in the oesophagus, and at this point, vomiting is considered serious (Mallory-Wiess symdrome)

Agree, you need to get seen immediately.

That isn't normal. Have you got a maternity day assessment unit at the hospital you're booked at? I'd go there first, rather than A&E. any other symptoms? Pain, headache etc? Let us know how you get on.

After spending the past week and a half visiting mil in the high dependency unit after she had tears in her oesophagus I'd say go straight to accident and emergency rather than your maternity unit.

A&E really is the best place for this...you could call your midwife on the way, but they'll take this seriously.

Hopefully you have gone already but go to the hospital & get checked out. Could be lots of things but you should be seen by a doctor. Hope you're ok.

Hi all. Thanks for responses. I called maternity assessment unit who advised me to go to doctors to get checked out. Doctor said it sounded purely like throat damage or something - didnt sound worried at all. Checked baby's movements and heart beat and all was ok and perscribed me some more heart burn medication.

I've had severe acid reflux for a while and like you was vomiting blood, only regularly as in every night. It was just due to blistering in my oesophagus, and now I am taking ranitidine I'm much better and damage seems to be healing up.

Give it 3-4 days and go back to your GP if no improvement. Do go back though, my GP was insistent about that. If it is reflux the meds should clear it, and if it is something else you need to get looked at.
