Movement - anyone else have this problem?

I'm currently 25 weeks pregnant and I can feel really strong kicks all the time, which I am quite surprised about as I have an antrrior placenta and was told by a MW that this could make it difficult to feel kicks. I can even feel them from the outside if I'm resting.my hands on my belly.

My problem is, whenever DP puts his hand on my belly (usually keeps it there while we're watching rv in bed) the baby literally refuses to kick while his hand is there! That's not even a slight exaggeration - as soon as he moves his hand and I put mine there it boots me one! He says it is ok and it will happen when it happens, but I can see that he really wants.to feel it kick like I have and the little monkey just won't kick when his hand is there! It's not just him either, it's the same when my mum tries, it won't kick then either.

Is it just bad timing or can it actually somehow sense its my hand? Just don't want DP to feel bad about it! Baby kicks when I sing and talk.to it as well. Should I try doing that when DP has his hand on my belly maybe?

Sorry for the long winded post, it's our first baby so its all new to us :)

With my first she hid from my husband the whole way through, kicked for everyone but him! She's now the biggest daddies girl you ever saw!

I have this problem all the time!

DCs really want to feel baby kicking so when she does loads of movements I call them over and little madam stops! The other thing I've noticed is that movements change if I lift my top up and I wonder if the change of light has anything to do with it? When you feel her move, try not to change anything maybe.

It will happen, honest. Towards the end (if anything like my previous pregnancies) he'll be able to see baby move never mind feel it! Try not to get too stressed by it. But you could definitely try the singing thing. You could also try interlocking hands and have both of your hands (his and yours I mean) on your belly?

Congrats on pregnancy BTW, and its lovely to have a partner who wants to feel baby as I know not all men are bothered until they actually come out Wink like mine for example

I also agree with MOTU ... my DD hid from DH and she's such a daddy's girl now (sometimes I think they have some sort of secret club!)

I am experiencing exactly the same thing! In fact, even when I put my hand on my belly she stops moving!! But I can feel her kicking inside like mad! And all day! It does tend to be when I move my top so maybe it is the light or the temperature?

I've been told it'll come though...

I'm having exactly the same problem especially with my ds, I've told him that when the baby's born (currently 24 weeks) I'm going to use his magic calming hand powers to make her go back to sleep! xx

I have this, to help oh feel baby I lie on my side behind him when going to sleep so bump is against his back & she always has a good fidget & a kick then.

This is very common but the further you go they will not be so shy and will move, kick and punch for all to see!!!
I'm 36 weeks and my DH can't believe the amount of movement and gets all excited as I just can't wait for baby to be out so my bladder and other organs that have been battered can recover!!!!!
All the best in the rest of your pregnancy and include him as much as you can as such a priceless time!!!

Yep same here! I get kicked and feel baby wriggle and somersaulting as soon as I either call dh over or get my camera out it stops!

Yes had exactly the same. I do think in part DH pressed too hard! It made me jump and baby quiet. I found when I placed his hand gently on my belly it was easier. Now I'm 30 weeks and baby doesn't seem to care! Grin

At 34+4 I am grateful that bump stops when DH puts his hand on bump, I use him a lot for this purpose. Bubba's movements can be very ouchy as there obviously isn't much room in there.

Sometimes he feels things, hiccups often! And yes, sometimes we sit and just watch the show :)

Yep we're exactly the same. The baby keeps kicking when it's my hand on my tummy but when DP puts his hand there she stops. Mind you DP tends to get bored of trying to feel it after, oh, about 5 seconds so I'm not surprised he's not felt it!!
