Buying things for baby at 14weeks!

Hi all, im due to have my second baby in July and as my partner and I are only 21 it was a shock to say the least...( especially since i had the copper coil fitted aug 2012!!)
Anyways, my mum and sister have already started to buy little bits and bobs for the little ones arrival, is it strange that i have no intention of buying things for baby as of yet!? I was so excited when my first was due and had loads of little things by this stage but that may have been because my partner and I were only 18 and really didnt understand how hard baby's actually were to parent so had ideas of the perfect fairy tail family.
I also think its something to do with my little girl not even being two yet, shes still my baby and part of me feels she might feel a bit replaced when baby comes!
Thats not to say im not looking forward to babys arrival... Im just worried things are going to get a bit ontop of me...

I'm 14 weeks and have bought nothing for baby, though have started looking at what there is to buy as it's my first and I don't have a clue. I have banned my mother from buying anything, it's far too early IMO and not at all necessary. I'm just scared something bad wil happen then to still have stuff for baby would be heartbreaking.

I'm looking forward to shopping trips maybe late may/June to get organised - still 2 months plus to go then.

I've started buying little bits. Bought some bibs the other day for instance.

IMO nothing could be as heartbreaking as the actual loss of the baby, having some stuff around wouldn't even touch that.

I'm 6w and I've put a deposit on a buggy cos it was a really good price! This is dc2 and we'll need a double buggy but the one we've chosen can be either so I'll just use it as a single of needed, I'm just a bit sad there isn't more to buy!! You sound a lot more restrained than me Smile

I am 13 weeks and like you this pregnancy was completely unplanned and totally unexpected. I have started buying bits as we can afford them and as good secondhand deals come up as we are having to do this on a very tight budget.

I don't think it really matters when you start buying things - it will feel right when it feels right I guess...and like you say the fact your other child is still very young will make it more difficult - you probably still have a lot of what you need anyways!

I'm 34 weeks. With DS2. So far I have bought:

One pack of newborn nappies
One pack of baby gros.

I have a two year old. Most of my time is filled up with him. I figure that I will get the majority of the stuff after DS2 arrives. I'm no less excited about the end result of this pregnancy (an amazing baby) this time but the need to buy baby-related stuff has vanished.

Actually I lie. I've bought DS1 about 100 presents "from the baby" in order to help him with the idea of a new sibling. But that seems to me to be money well spent on DS2 (well, sort of). Grin

I had the coil fitted last year as well and am now 14 weeks! 22 here. Scary stuff isn't it? Lol. Are you having yours removed? I've bought bits and bobs but nothing major. Have made a list too tick off though. X

Hi,

I am 10 weeks and I bought one outfit a couple of weeks ago. However, this was mainly because MIL told me she has been buying stuff and they're coming to visit this weekend and she wants to bring what she's bought, and I just wanted the first thing we have for our baby to be something we've chosen. I doubt I'll buy anything else for a good few months.

Hi, I'm 18weeks and haven't bought any clothes or anything yet. We bought the nursery bedding at the weekend but only because it was such a good deal and its now being stored at my grans house. We are waiting until our 20week scan (which is next Thursday) then we will buy a few more things. Grin
