Feeling the first kick

When did you first feel undeniable movement?

I'm 16+5 and think I felt my baby move for the first time today! It feels like very gentle prodding and wriggling. Could it be the baby this soon? I'm unsure as everything I've read says you feel popping or fluttering first and I haven't had that. (it's my first)

It feels very similar to the bubbly feeling you get with trapped wind!! Took me three days to realise it was baby kicking and not IBS, lol Grin

I always describe it like this :

"It feels like you are holding a tiny frog cupped in your hands and the baby kicking feels like the frog is jumping against the sides of your hands trying to escape!"

I thought I felt movement at about 17 weeks but only like being tickled from the inside! Gradually got more distinctive as weeks went on and felt proper kicks by 20 weeks.

I wasn't sure at first if it was the baby moving or if I just imagined it, but it was between 15/16 weeks so quite early for a 1st baby. It felt like trapped wind but in a different place. I'm 20+1 now & the feelings are the same but much stronger (& more frequent) Smile

I'm 18 weeks today with baby #1 and I've been feeling definite kicking since the weekend. I thought I had felt a few last week but wasn't really certain. Like others have said, it feels like trapped wind freeing itself but lower down Smile

My first I felt baby quite early felt a bit like wind or a slight bump I only knew because midwife had Doppler and we heard it move at the same time. He was anterior placenta

This baby I felt earlier at 16 weeks but knew what to look out for and have low lying placenta so no barrier.

Now there is no mistaking the wiggles and kicks!

Sounds like you could be feeling babies first wiggles they will get stringer and become a comfort and annoyance to you the next 5-6 months lol congratulations x

I didn't feel bubbling or fluttering really. At first I felt tickles, then wriggles and then kicks. You probably are feing baby move now and as it gets stronger, you will now for sure. It's exciting x

My baby's quickening didn't feel like bubbles or popping either. I was sat on the sofa and felt a gentle tapping low down inside my abdomen, like the baby was giving me a prod to say hello. The kicks are getting stronger every day, but I still enjoy every one. It's my favourite thing about pregnancy, by far Smile

Well my midwife brought her doppler today and let me have a listen in which was amazing! There were thud noises which she said were kicks, they were coinciding with the prodding feelings so it was definitely the baby!

I guess it must feel slightly different for everyone then, it's definitely more of tapping and wiggling than popping or bubbles for me.

I felt some little pokes at 16 weeks then nothing till 21 weeks when suddenly they got much stronger. Could feel from the outside from about 25 weeks.

My bump name for my first was "bubble" as thats just what it felt like, probably from about 16 weeks. I didn't really feel my second until about 18 weeks and then it felt more like proper kicks. Reading this is making me feel all broody for another. Loved feeling those little baby wriggles!

16 weeks. Watching TV and felt two tiny little taps in my lower tummy in quick succession. Completely different to anything I'd ever felt before, there was no mistaking it. I think llama's description of the little frog is the best analogy I've heard yet though!

Thanks for that User - I am 21 weeks and have been feeling wriggles and flutters quite regularly over the last week or so. Want to know when my OH can share as well!

can movements feel like a slightly painful/uncomfy stab ? I have felt none of the 'normal' first movements but every now and then a few times a day I get what I thought were stretching pains but might be movement ? 21 + 3 today and a bit worried now.

I felt the bubbling quite early on (sort of like internal farts!) before I realised it was the baby and not my digestive system (prob from around 16 wks). But I think it was at least 25 wks until I felt movements that were clearly kicks/ prods. First pregnancy.
