Havent heard anything from my hospital for a while, and as i am 32 weeks I thought maybe I should contact them and see if they want to see me again...what is the drill when you are getting nearer the due date?

No more scans unless midwife thinks something is wrong (big/small for dates, etc.).

Are you worried about something, or just not sure how it works? Hope all okay.

I asked at my 20 week scan and was told unless there were problems I wouldn't get another NHS scan. As a result we are opting for a private 4D scan at 32 weeks.

not worried at all, just wondered if they shouldnt check if things are progressing the way they should nearer the time, how do they find out if they are breeched for example? Where do you get a 4D scan?

google 4d scan + your area.

Some ladies have growth scans or scans to check position of placenta if there have been previous problems, but ordinarily, 12 weeks and 20 weeks is all.

have done, wow, they look rather mad dont they?...the 4D scans, why are peoples reasoning behind having them? apart from looking at the rather weird little monsters growing inside of you?

Midwives can usually tell by palpatating your stomach in late pregnancy if the baby is breech, or at least know that the baby isn't in the optimal position and refer to you for a scan.

Optimal position is that you should feel hiccups on your lower left side and feel someone kicking the bottom of your right ribcage.

I get one at 34 weeks. I did last time too. Seems standard in my area.

You should have a schedule for midwife appointments and scans in your maternity notes.

You haven't seen the midwife since your scan? You definitely need to give them a call, I think you are due more blood tests at least, and you should definitely have your blood pressure and urine checked.

You should get blood tests at 28 weeks anyway.

I was under the impression that you have 2 nhs scans one at 12wks and another at 20wks. Mw apps in between i was told at booking app that i wud have to book nearer the time, for instant i have my 12 wk scan on wednesday and have to phone by surgery after to make an app fo about 15 weeks.

Don't usually scan as standard after 20wk scan but I had one last time when I was concerned about not feeling movements and my friend had loads due to low-lying placenta.

I'm reminded at each appointment to ring & make the next one for xx weeks. Don't know whether they'd check if I didn't!

It depends where you live. I've had a 12, 20 & 32 week scan with birth of mine.

I'm getting 12, 20 & 32. This is at UCLH (London) and I was told it is now standard practice there. In my previous pg less than 2 years ago (same hospital) I got 12 & 20 week scans only as standard and a scan at 34w because they needed to check the position of my placenta.
