Dream genii - bloody nightmare!

I bought one yesterday as the mothercare pillow I bought earlier in pregnancy has lost all it's stuffing in the middle and is a bit useless.
Couldn't get comfy on it at all! The thing at the back pushed my belly into the bit at the front and made baby kick the hell out of me until I moved. And I had to completely wake up, turn the thing over and then settle back into it when I wanted to turn over in bed. I know other people swear by them, what am I doing wrong?
I had a fantastic pillow with my second, from mothercare, cheap, nice and soft cover and enough support but I couldn't find the same one this time.
I'm considering putting the genii back in its bag and returning it, I always use a towel over the top anyway

I don't have the back/front problem but am not that impressed myself. The bit at the front is too big to go under bump so I end up just using it between my knees and ankles.

Although if you do turn over leave it where it is, just pull the long bit through your legs to go between your knees.

Tbh I found a memory foam pillow between knees, a pillow behind my back and a folded up blanket under bump just as good. I also have a folded duvet on top of the mattress and under the sheet for extra padding.

I hate mine too. I used it two or three times and it's been in the cupboard ever since. Had more success with a combination of normal pillows.

I hate mine as well! I didn't realise how much I move about at night until I used it. I felt so 'hemmed in' and was constantly waking up because I felt constricted when I tried to roll over. I think when I'm a bit bigger and have a substantial bump it might be better (as moving by myself at that stage might be awkward either way!) but for now I'm not seeing a benefit.

I felt the same way about mine at first, couldn't understand why everyone raved about them, but at the end of my pregnancy found it invaluable.

Prior to that I found using it back-to-front, so that the long bit supported my back, was more helpful.

I love mine, but I agree you need to have a significant bump before it becomes useful. I was getting severe back and hip pain trying to sleep on my side as the bump was causing my back to twist and putting pressure on my lower hip.

I have a significant bump I promise! I think it may be because I sleep in a non standard position, I can't lie directly on my side as it makes my hip hurt, so I tend to prop myself on the front point of my hip with my leg on a pillow to keep the weight off the belly. There just isn't enough pillow there in the dream geni to bring my leg up enough to be comfy. I managed last two pregnancies with my basic 4ft pillow (fondly named big John by dh) but the dog ate the pillow and I can't find another that's the right size and level of stuffing.
Oh well, back to the drawing board.

I'm 28 weeks with a decent bump and find mine makes me comfy for about 30 minutes but I wake up in the night feeling worse- totally stiff all over (I'm naturally a wriggler in my sleep so it's a pain anyway turning over with it!) - I then throw it out of the bed in middle of the night and feel better! So far agree though, not loving it! Maybe it may come in handy later on...holding out hope as they're not cheap eh?

I modified mine and cut the silly wodge at the back off. It's impossible to turn over and get comfy again. So mine is now a long sausage. I'm glad I bought mine in the sale, wouldn't have been impressed if I paid full price, but it's better than another that I had that went limp so quickly.

I found the same with feeling constricted turning over. So I tuck the smaller section under the sausage part and just use it as a sausage with a bigger pillow bit at the top. I was disappointed at the size, thought I'd be bigger. (Oh, er missus!) the model in the picture must be tiny as I'm only 5'5"!

I found a wedge cushion more useful around my back instead. Also supportive lying on the sofa!
