Slapped cheek & pregnancy – any experts about?

I had a blood test last week as my 2.3yo has had slapped cheek and I am 17 wks pregnant. Rang my docs today and was told the results say ?borderline, no further action? I have rung my mw for a further explanation as you just get the results from the receptionist, but she?s in a meeting all day, however I?m confused, surely you are either immune or not immune?

You're right, you are either immune to parvovirus or susceptible to parvovirus (eg not immune). You should call your midwife again, anyone there should be able to look the results up and give you a clear plan of action. If you are susceptible you are likely to be asked to have repeat bloods done again 4 weeks after the contact. If you get any symptoms yourself in the meantime, you should contact your midwife straight away. HTH.

Thank goodness you are immune. I had SCS at aged 4 and I was really, really ill with it. My temperature went up to 105 at one point. Hope your little one feels better soon too :)

So good you're immune - Im not am an sen teacher (high level contact with kids) and had to have what ended up being 3 months off school as kids kept getting it. The stress actuality led to more serious AND due to so many differing views and opinions. Please inform nursery if your lo is there etc. All the best with your pregnancy x

He?s at a cm and it was her who spotted it! It did give him a chest infection as well (probably as he?d had one a month ago and it just triggered it off again) so had to have anti-biotics for that, but he?s fine now thanks Smile

I did have to do a ring around of pregnant friends to tell them though ? it felt like I was calling exes to talk about stds Wink
